Braddan 1848 
I Barton Tenison of the town of Douglas in the Isle of Man being in sound
health of body and mind do delare this to be my last will and testament.
First I will and bequeath to my son George Byne Tenison the one half of
the dwelling house and premises situated and numbered 1 in Saint
Georges Street in the town of Douglas in the Isle of Man, and the one half
of the shop and premises built adjoining the said house in Athol Street
my son William Barton Tenison having become entitled to one half of  the
said house shop and premises legally in consequeance of my late beloved wife
his mother having died without making a will.  Should my son
George Byne Tenison die before he attains the age to twenty one years then
and in that case I will and bequeath the one half of the said house shop and
premises to my two daughters Elizabeth Harriot Tenison and Emily Margaret
Tenison share and share alike, and should either of them die without issue
then and in that case to be possessed by the surviving daughter of my late
wife Milly Tenison (alias Byne).
Second I will and bequeath to my daughters Elizabeth Harriot Tenison and
Emily Margaret Tenison all property I die possessed of after my just
debts and funeral expenses are paid and if one of my said daughters
should die without issue I leave all such property to the survivor of them
but is one of my said daughter should died before me having left issue
such issue be entitled to their deceased motheršs share of my said property
and if my property so devised to my said daughters should be found to exceed
two thousand pounds then and in that case I will and bequeath the over plus
above the said sum of two thousand pounds to all my children by my late wife
Emily Tenison (alias Byne) share and share alike.
Third I nominate and appoint Thomas Nelson Esquire, surgeon in the town of
Douglas executor and my daughter Elizabeth Harriot Teninson
executrix to this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this eighteenth day of
March one thousand eight hundred and forty seven

Signed and published by the said Barton Tension as his last will and
testament in our presence

At an Eccl Court held at Douglas 25th Oct 1848
Thomas C. Howard advocate having made oath on the Holy Evangelist that
Barton Tenison Esq deceased when of sound mind memory and understanding duly
signed and executed the foregoing paper writing as
and for his last will and testament in his presence and also in presence
of Robert Shimmin the other subscribing witness and Thomas Nelson surgeon
one of the executors therein named having departed this life and Elizabeh
Harriett Tenison the other executrix having by a paper writing under her
hand dated the 24th inst renounced the executorship in favor of James
Spittal advocate the said James Spittal is there sworn to fufil
and execute the said will and to administer the estate and effect of the
testator according to law and to return to the Episcopal Registry of this
Dioceses a full true and perfect inventory of the said Cæsar Bacon and
Alexander Spittall Esqrs who have executed the usual Bond in presence
of the court.
