This is affirmed to be the Last Will and Testament of John Quayle 
of the parish of KK Lonan worded the Sixth of January Instant Departed 
this life the Seventh Inst. He being and weak in body but of sound 
disposing mind and memory knowing the uncertainty of this familor 
Life and the certainty of Death do make this his Last will and Testament.

First, he committed his soul to God who gave it and his Body to a Christian 
Burial and as to his worldly effects he Bequeathed of a mannor following – 
He left and bequeathed to his son John Quayle all his right and the title 
in trust and property in and unto his land when he cometh to proper age.  
He left unto his two daughters Elenor and Isabella Twenty pounds each to 
be paid unto them when they become of proper age.  
Lastly revoking all that will heretofore all words or intentions uttered, 
declared this to be his last will and testament and nominating and appointing 
his beloved wife Isabella Quayle whole and sole executrix of all the rest 
of his goods and chattels moveable and immovable of whatever nature and 
denomination soever as witnesses our subscriptions this the 7th day of January 1848.

At a chapter court holden at Douglas the 23d May 1848
John Kermode and John Moore the subscribing witnesses to the before going 
paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament Nuncupative of 
John Quayle of the parish of Kirk Lonan deceased having made oath on the 
Holy Evangelists that the said John Quayle when of sound and disposing mind 
memory and understanding duly spoke and declared the words therein contained 
to be his last Will and Testament in their presence. And that the same was 
committed to writing by deponents within the time limited by Law.  
Isabella Quayle the executrix in said will named is therefore sworn well and 
truly to fulfill and execute the said will according to law. To pay all just 
debts legacies and funeral expenses of the Testator so far forth as the goods 
and effects will extend and the law bind her. And to return to the Archdeacon’s 
Registry a full true and perfect inventory of the said estate with an accurate 
account of her acts and proceedings in the premises when thereunto lawfully 
required and to these ends she hat given pledges in form of law namely John Moore 
of Barroose and John Kermode of Croit Voar both in the parish of Lonan, who 
have executed the usual bond bearing equal date herewith.

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted probate 
of the Last Will and Testament of John Quayle late of KK Lonan deceased, to Isabella Quayle 
the Executrix in the Will named.  And whereas John Moore of the Barroose in the 
Parish of Lonan and John Kermode of the Croit Voar in the Parish of Lonan have agreed 
to become pledges to the said Isabella Quale.

Therefore know all men by these presents, that we, the said John Moore and John Kermode 
hereby bind and oblige ourselves and other Executors and administrators, as pledges to 
the said Isabella Quayle for the due and faithful administration of the goods and effects 
of the said deceased, according to law.  Witness our subscriptions this 23rd day of May 1818.
