In the name of God amen. I Catherine Kaighin alias Kewly at present
residing in the parish of Patrick widow of the late William Kaighin
of the town of Peel being of sound mind memory and understanding and
calling to mind the uncertainty of this life do make this my last
will and testament. Viz.
First, I commend my soul to Almighty God and my body to a Christian burial
Item. I leave and bequeath to Mary Kewly widow of the parish of German and
her daughter Mary Quayle my wearing apparel, the whole of the feathers that
is in my bed to be equally divided between them.
And lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint John Leece of the Balig beg
in the parish of Patrick whole and sole executor of all the rest of my
goods cash chattels and effects of every description and do hereby make
void all former wills by me made or executed and excluding all persons
pretending to claim with one shilling as legacy.

At a Chapter Court holden at Peel Town the 25th day of May 1849 –
Robert Christian and Richard Quirk the subscribing witnesses to the
foregoing Will of Catherine Kaighin of Partick dec’d having made oath
on the Holy Evangelists that Catherine Kaighin the Testatrix when of
sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly executed the
same in their presences and have for her last Will and Testament.
John Leece the Executor therein named is therefore sworn well and truly
to fulfill and execute the same according to Law to pay all just debts
legacies and funeral expenses of the Testatrix so far forth as the goods
and effects will extend and the law bind him and to return to the
Archdeacon’s Registry a full true and perfect inventory of said goods
and effects and an accurate account of his acts and proceedings in the
premises when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends he hath given
pledges namely Robert Christian of Gordon and William Quirk Ballakerkey
both in the parish of Patrick who have executed a bond to that effect
bearing equal date herewith.

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted
probate of the Last Will and Testament of Catherine Kaighin late of KK Patrick
deceased, to John Leece, the Exor herein named. nd whereas Robert Christian of
Gordon in the Parish of Patrick and Wm Quirk of Ballakerkey in the Parish of Patrick
have agreed to become pledges to the said John Leece.
Therefore know all men by these presents, that we, the said Robt Christian and Wm Quirk
hereby bind and oblige ourselves and other Executors and administrators, as pledges to
the said John Leece for the due and faithful administration of the goods and effects
of the said deceased, according to law. Witness our subscriptions this 25th day of May 1849
