To His Worship Thomas Arthur Corlett
Esquire Vicar General for
the humble petition
of Samuel Harris
of Thornton in the parish
of Onchan (only son and
next of kin of Samuel
Harris late of this Town
of Douglas Merchant)
and Sumner General
Sheweth –
That the late Samuel Harris
some short time since departed
this life having expressed his intention
respecting the disposition of his Estate
and your Petitioner committed the same
to writing but the same was
not(?) signed by the late Samuel
Harris.
That your Petitioner being
the only son and next of kin
of the said Samuel Harris is
desirous of carrying out his
late Father’s intentions is
desirous of obtaining administration
of his Estate with the said paper
annexed thereto.
That your Petitioner being
Sumner General of this
Island is desirous of obtaining
administration in his said
capacity.
Whereupon your Petitioner
humbly prays
a hearing hereof
and that your
Worship may be
pleased to grant
him administration
of the Estate of the said
Samuel Harris deceased
and he _____ _____

for petitioner.
Ordered that this petition do come
as to be heard at a Vicars
Court to be holden at Douglas
on Friday next whereof all
proper parties to have due
notice.

At an Eccl. Court held in Douglas the 19th March 1852.
Upon hearing this Petition in presence of the parties or their advocates
and it appearing that Samuel Harris of the town of Douglas Merchant
some time ago departed this life Intestate leaving ____his only son Sam Harris Esq
who is therefore decreed Sole Administrator of all and singular the Goods
Rights Credits Chasttels and Effects of the deceased and that Samuel
Harris the Petit. in his capacity of Sumner Genl. of this Isle and at
his own request is sworn well and truly to administer the Estate
to pay all just debts and funeral expenses of the deceased so far
forth as the goods will extend and the law bind him and to return
to the Episcopal Registry of this Diocese in full true and perfect
inventory of the Estate with an accurate account of his acts and
proceedings in the premises when thereunto lawfully required.
