Maughold
This is the last and Joint will and
Testament of Thomas Corteen & Mary his wife
of Ballasholague in the parish of Maughold
They being of sound mind and memory at
the making hereof - Thanks to Almighty God
for the same.
First - We commit our souls to God who gave them
and our bodies to Christian burial.
Secondly - We leave and bequeath to William Corteen
our son the whole of our sheep that may be
alive at the demise of the longest survivor
of us, together with the team and husbandry
utensils belonging or shall remain at the
death of the latest survivor and not sooner.
Thirdly - We leave and bequeath to Edward our
son the full amount thirty two pounds (being
an assignment of a deed of Mortgage from
the late John Callow who was my brother in Law)
secured on the premises of Mrs Kissack
wuilleragh to be paid to him likewise at the
demise of the longest survivor.
We therefore nominate and appoint
our Son William aforesaid to be our
executor and residuary legatee of all the
rest of the goods moveable or immoveable
of whatever kind or denomination soever and
that he do pay the legacies according to
the intent and meaning of this our last
will and testament - also that all cravers
may be paid sixpence - this the 4th day of
May, One thousand Eight Hundred and
fifty. 1850
