In the name of God Amen.
We Charles Cook and Jane Cook my wife both of the parish of Kirk
Michael in the Isle of Man being of sound mind memory and understanding at
the making hereof do make publish and declare this to be our joint
will and testament in manner and form of follows:
Item 1st We commit our souls to Almighty God and our bodies be decent
Christian burial.
Item 2nd We leave and bequeath unto our sons namely John, Charles, Thomas,
William, and Edward the sum of five shillings each to be paid
unto each of them at the expiration of twelve months by the last
survivor of us the said Charles and Jane Cook.
Item 3rd We leave and bequeath unto our daughters namely Margaret, Mary
Ann, and Elinor the sum of five shillings each to be paid unto each
of them at the expiration of twelve months by the last survivor of us the
said Charles and Jane Cook.
Item: 4th We leave the sum of one shilling to each person or persons who can
establish any just claim against either of us the said Charles and
Jane Cook.
Fifthly and Lastly We leave unto the last survivor of us the said Charles
and Jane Cook all and singular the whole our property immoveable if any and
immoveable of all and every description of Cash, credits, and effects and be
it further known and understood that the amount of whatever promissory note
or promissory notes are at present held or may
hereafter be held by us are and is to be the whole and sole property of
her the said Jane Cook to be held and enjoyed together as her undoubted
right and property against the the claims of any person or persons
whomsoever. And the last survivor of us who have signed or subscribed
to this our joint will to be executor or executrix of the same.
In witness whereof we have signed our names or marks this the first day of
October one thousand eight hundred and fifty two (1852).

At a Chapter Court held in Kirk Michael on the 30th day of October 1856.
Edward Corran one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper
writing purporting to be the will of Charles Cook deceased having made oath
upon the Holy Evangelists that said Charles Cook the testator when
of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and
executed the same as and for his last will and testament in presence of this
deponent and of William Radcliffe the other subscribing witness thereto.
Jane Cook the widow and relict of said testator and the
executrix in said will named is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil
and execute the same according to law - to pay all the just debts
legacies and funeral expenses of the testator so far forth as the goods and
effects will extend and the law bind her and also to return to the Episcopal
Registry a full true and perfect inventory of said estate with
an accurate account of her acts and proceedings in the premises when
thereunto lawfully required and to these ends he hath given pledges
namely William Corlett of Ballaugh and Edward Corran of Ramsey who
have entered into and executed the usual bond in presence of the court.
