This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of James Cojeen of
Ballig in the parish of Lonan.
I leave and bequeath unto my son John Cojeen my lawful heir the one half
or moiety of my stock on my estate including herdes cows pigs poultry
and also the one half of the crop and farming implements on the said estate
and also the bed bedding and bedstead on the kitchen loft and two chairs and
one pot as legacy and I leave and bequeath unto my son James and unto my son
Robert unto my son Thomas the sum of one shilling each and I leave and
bequeath unto my daughter Margaret the sum of five pounds the same to be
considered as payment for money I borrowed of
her and I leave and bequeath unto the rest of my daughter's namely Ann,
Jane, and Isabala the sum of one shilling each and unto every person
having a right to claim in this my last will and testament the sum of one
shilling.  And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my beloved
wife Elizabeth Cojeen my whole and  sole executrix residuary legatee of
all the  rest and remainder of my goods chattels and effects whether
moveable or immoveable real or personal of whatsoever kind nature or
description soever or wheresoever and I do hereby revoke all wills by me
heretofore made and do publish and declare this to be my last will and
testament this Fourteenth day of April One thousand eight hundred and fifty
six.  April 14th 1856.   James Cojeen

At a Chapter Court held in Douglas on the 23rd day of October 1857. Thomas
Lewin and Lee Kewley the subscribing witnesses to the
foregoing paper writing purporting to be the will of James Cojeen
deceased having made oath upon the Holy Evangelists that said James Cojeen
the Testator when of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly
signed and executed the same as and for his last will and testament in their
presence.  Elizabeth Cojeen the testator's widow the executrix in said will
named is therefore sworn well and truly to
fulfil and execute the same according to law - to pay all the just debts
legacies and funeral expenses of said Testator so far forth as the goods
will extend and the law bind her.  And also to return to the Episcopal
Registry a full true and perfect inventory of said estate and effects with
an accurate account of her acts and proceedings in the premises when
thereunto lawfully required and to these ends she hath given pledges namely
Lee Kewley and John Cojeen who have entered into and executed the usual bond
in presence of the court.

Know all Men by these present that Margaret Colvin previously Cogeen
daughter of the within named James Cojeen  doth hereby acknowledge to have
accrued from John Cogeen son of the within name Cogeen the aforesaid sum of
five pounds in the instant --------to the date thereof
