In the Name of God Amen.
I Richard Shimmin Senr of Croit ne Hara in the parish of KK Patrick being of sound 
disposing mind, memory and understanding and calling to mind the uncertainty of this 
mortal life, do make this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following 
viz:
First I commend my Soul to Almightly God in the Hope of a Joyful Resurrection and
      my body to a Christian burial
Secondly I leave bequeath and devise all my whole Property of the Houses and Lands 
      called and known by the name of Croit-ne-hara situate in the said parish of 
      KK Patrick unto my two sons and three daughters namely Richard Shimmin 
      Junr and John Shimmin, Leonora Curphey, Eleanor Radcliffe and Ann 
      Caghedy, to their Heirs and assigns forever, to be equally divided and 
      distributed among them, that is the one fifth part to each of my Right and Title 
      that I have unto the aforesaid premises, to be possessed by them the said 
Legatees after the Decease of my wife Ann Shimmin alias Callister.
Lastly I do nominate, constitute and appoint my wife Anne Shimmin to be my whole and 
      sole Executrix (and successor to the aforesaid bequeathed Premises during her 
      material lifetime) and Legatee of this my last Will and Testament and hereby 
      barring all claimants with two shillings and sixpence each as Legacy.
As Witnesses my name or make subscribed this the 4th day of June 1856

At a Chapter Court held in Peel on the 15th day of May 1857
John Gill and Hugh Cannell the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper writing 
purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Richard Shimmin deceased having made 
Oath upon the Holy Evangelists that said Richard Shimmin the Testator when of sound 
and disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and executed the same in 
their presence as and for his last Will and Testament.  Ann Shimmin the Testator’s 
Widow named Executrix in said Will named is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil 
and execute the same according to Law to pay all the just Dbts Legacies and Funeral 
expenses of said Testator so far forth as the Goods and Effects will thereto extend and the 
law bind her and also to return to the Archdeacons Registry a full true and perfect 
Inventory of said Estate with an accurate account of her acts and proceedings in the 
premises when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends she hath given pledges 
namely William Watson and Richard Shimmin who have entered into and executed the 
usual Bond in presence of the Court. ---

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted Probate of the last 
Will and Testament of Richard Shimmin deceased to Ann Shimmin

And whereas Richard Shimmin of the Eairy in the Parish of Marown and William 
Watson of Ballaleece in the Parish of German have agreed to become pledges for the said 
Ann Shimmin for the due administration of the said Estate according to law.
Therefore know all men by these Present, that we the said Richard Shimmin and William 
Watson hereby bind and oblige ourselves and our Executors and Administrators as 
pledges for the said Ann Shimmin for the due and faithful administration of the goods 
and effects of the said deceased according to law.  And in her default we bind ourselves 
and our Executors and Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said 
Estate or the Administration thereof.
Witness our subscriptions this 15th day of May 1857
