The last will & testament of John Killip of
the Cleanagh in the Parish of Lezayre who from
due consideration of the uncertainty of this transitory
life do make this my last will & testament in
manner following viz–
That I commit my soul to God and my body
to Christian burial –
I leave and bequeath to my son John Killip
all and singular the whole of my lands &
property situate in Druin-ne-Clanagh in the
Parish of Lezayre, being Quarterland & Intack
and also my right & title to a certain parcel of Intack
land called “Carrin” situate in the Glenmoor
in the Parish of Lezayre aforesaid with the
Issues and profits thereof during his natural
lifetime and after his decease to go to his
Heir at Law, the said premises to be possessed
by him when he arrives at the age of Thirty
years & not sooner, except his mother change
her name and get married to another man
so in that case he is to possess that lands & premises
as herein after mentioned as Legacy –
I leave and bequeath to my two Daughters
Ann Jane Killip & Margaret Killip and the
survivors of them my whole right & title of in
and unto a certain House out offices yards
and Field adjoining situate being & lying near
Sulby Village in the Parish of Lezayre commonly
Called and known by the name of Gawe
Halley’s House and Field, being of the Clenagh
moor, Share & share alike during their natural
lifetime and after their decease to go their respective
Heirs at Law as the survivors of them their Heir
and Assigns, & to be possessed by them
when they arrive at the age of Twenty four
years and not sooner, Except their mother
change her name & get married to another
man, so in that case they are to possess these
lands & premises as hereinafter mentioned
as Legacy –
I leave & bequeath to Ann Killip my beloved
wife the whole of the rents Issues & profits of the
whole of my property until my before mentioned
children arrive at the respective ages before
mentioned if she continue in my name, but
in case she gets married to another man
my aforesaid son & daughters are to possess
the same immediately upon her marriage.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint
my beloved wife Ann Killip whole and
sole executrix and residuary Legatee
of all my goods, cash, credit and effects movable
and immoveable whatsoever.
In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
my name this the 16th day of March 1860 –

At a Chapter Court held in Ramsey
on the 11th day of May 1860. ----
Thomas Caley and John Kneale the subscribing witnesses
to the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the Will of
John Killip deceased, having made Oath upon the Holy
Evangelists that said John Killip the Testator when of
sound and disposing mind memory and understanding
duly signed and executed the same as and for his last
Will and Testament in their presence – Ann Killip
the Testator’s widow the Executrix in said Will annexed
is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute
the same according to Law by paying all the just
debts Legacies and Funeral expenses of said deceased
so far forth as the Goods and Effects will thereto extend
and the law bind her to return to the Archdeacon’s
Registry a full true and perfect Inventory of said
Estate and Effects with an accurate account
of her acts and proceedings in the Premises
when thereunto lawfully required and to these
ends she hath given pledges namely Thomas
Caley and John Kneale who have entered into
and executed the usual Bonds in presence
of the Court. ----

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted Probate of the last Will
and Testament ~~~~~~~~ of John Killip ~~~~~ deceased, to Ann Killip ~~~~~~~~
And Whereas Thomas Caley of Ballavolley
In the Parish of Lezayre and John Kneale
of Clanagh in the Parish of Lezayre have agreed
to become pledges for the said Ann Killip for the due administration
of the said Estate according to law.
Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said Thomas Caley
and John Kneale hereby bind and oblige
ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as pledges for the said Ann Killip
~~~~~~~~ for the due and faithful administration of the goods
and effects of the said deceased according to law. And in his default we bind ourselves and our Executors
and Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
Witness our subscriptions this 11th day of Many 1860
