In the Name of Almighty God Amen
I Robert Killip labourer of Burnt Mill
Hill in the Parish of Conchan being of
sound mind memory and understanding and
calling to mind the uncertainty of this mortal
life Do make this my last Will and
Testament in form and manner following
First I commit my Soul to Almighty God and
my Body to a Christian Burial
Item I leave and bequeath to my beloved wife
Elizabeth Killip all and singular a certain
Dwelling house and premises thereto connected
situated in Burnt Mill hill in the
Parish of Conchan also my portion or
share of all the Goods Cash and
Effects of whatever kind or nature they
be whilst she continues in my name
if the said Elizabeth Killip my wife
marries after my decease the said
Dwelling House and premises are
to be equally divided between my
children, if the said Elizabeth Killip
does not marry after my decease, she
can dispose of the said Dwelling
House and premises in whatever
names she thinks proper.
Item I leave and bequeath to my son John
Killip the sum of five shillings
Item I leave and bequeath to my son
William Killip the sum of five shillings
Item I leave and bequeath to my son George
Killip the sum of five shillings
Item I leave and bequeath to my daughter
Sophia Killip the sum of five shillings
Item I leave and bequeath to my daughter
Sarah Killip the sum of five shillings
as Legacy to each of the above named Children.
Lastly I nominate constitute and appoint
my beloved wife Elizabeth Killip whole
and Sole Executrix of all my Goods
Cash and Effects of what denomination
soever they be And lastly I
conclude and debar all persons or person
from claiming any further in my
Will with one Shilling each
As witness my subscription This the
Fourth day of January one thousand
Eight hundred and sixty --- 1860.

At a Chapter Court held in Douglas on the 18th
day of May 1860 –
Richard Cowley one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing
paper writing purporting to be the will of Robert Killip deceased
having made Oath upon the Holy Evangelists that said Robert
Killip the Testator when of sound and disposing mind memory
and understanding duly signed and executed the same as
and for his last Will and Testament in presence of this
Deponent and of Robert Harrison the other subscribed witness
thereto, who is now off this Isle, Elizabeth Killip the Testator’s
widow the Executrix in said Will named is therefore
sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the same
according to Law by paying all the just debts legacies
and funeral expenses of said deceased so far forth as the
Goods and Effects will extend and the law bind her
and to return to the Archdeacon’s Registry a full true
and perfect Inventory of said Estate and Effects with an
accurate account of her Acts and proceedings in
the premises when thereunto lawfully required and
to these ends she hath given Pledges namely Richard
Cowley and Hugh McCarthy who have entered
into and executed the usual Bond in the
presence of the Court –

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted Probate of the last
Will and Testament of Robert Killip ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ deceased, to Elizabeth Killip
And Whereas Hugh McCarthy of Onchan Village
in the Parish of Onchan and Richard Cowley
of Village in the Parish of Onchan have agreed
to become pledges for the said Elizabeth Killip for the due administration
of the said Estate according to law.
Therefore know all men by these Presents that we the said Hugh McCarthy
~~~~~~~~ and Richard Cowley hereby bind and oblige
ourselves and our Executors and Administrators all pledges for the said Elizabeth Killip
for the due and faithful administration of the goods
and effects of the said deceased according to law. And in her default we bind ourselves and our Executors and
Administrators to be answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate or the administration thereof
Witness our subscriptions this 18th day of May 1860.
