1864 In the Name of God Amen
I John Lewney miner of Laxey Glen in the
Parish of (Lonan) being through the blessing of God
in a sound state of mind and memory
but weak in body do make and ordain this
my last Will and Testament, that is to say
I bequeath my soul to God who gave it and
my body to decent Christian burial
First I leave and bequeath to my four sons
John. Robert. Edward and Henry one shilling
each and to my five daughters that is Jane
Elinor Elizabeth Christian and Ann one shilling
each to be paid after my decease by my hereinafter
mentioned Executor. Finally I nominate constitute and
appoint my beloved wife Elizabeth Lewney als Knowles
whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament
all and singular my house garden goods and effects of
whatever nature or denomination soever. And I do
hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and
every other Testaments Wills or legacies by me in any way
before named ratifying this and no other to be my last Will
and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set
my mark this the 30th day of January one thousand
eight hundred and sixty three ---- 1863
