The humble petition of Catherine Maddrell
Sheweth that your petrs father Robert Maddrell departed this life upon
the day of April 1865  having first duly made and published his last will
and testament in writing whereof he appointed your petr executrix.
That the only next of kin of the said Robert Maddrell (who resides off
this island) and William Maddrell and his daughter Ann wife of Humphrey
Mylechreest and your petr
Wherefore your petr humbly prays a hearing hereof and that probate of the
said will may be granted to her and she will pray.

George Clague formerly of America but now of the Isle of Man and Catherine
Clague otherwise Maddrell his wife the executrix named in the
will of Robert Maddrell of Castletown in the Isle of Man do own and
acknowledge to have rec'd from Wm Maddrell of the town of Douglas
joiner the sum of thirty pounds being the amount of a legacy bequeathed by
the said Robert Maddrell to his daughter the said Catherine Maddrell
now the wife of the said George Clague in and by his last will bearing
date the fifth day of November one thousand eight hundred sixty two. Also
received forty pounds from a codicil annexed to his will bearing
date 11June 1863

I Robert Maddrell formerly of Granaby in the parish of Malew but at
present in Castletown in the Isle of Man being of sound disposing mind
memory and understanding do make my last will and testament in manner
following.
I give devise and bequeath to my son and heirs at law William Maddrell
all and singular my lands with the houses and buildings thereon situate
in the parish of Malew called and known by the name of Balnacharny or some
such name consisting of intack and quarterland being the whole of my lands
in the said parish To have and To Hold unto him and his heirs
and assigns forever but out of his expenses condition that in
consideration herefore he is to pay to my daughter Catherine my executrix
hereinafter named as the end or expiration of two years after my decease the
sum of thirty pounds and to my son Robert the sum of forty pounds at the end
or expiration of six years after my decease neither of which
sums are to bear interest prior to the dates of becoming payable as
aforesaid and also paying to my natural daughter Jane wife of Thomas Taggart
the sum of two pounds a year for and during the term of her natural life to
be for her own exclusive use and benefit and free from the debts or
liabilities of her present husband or any other husband she may have - her
receipt alone to be a discharge for the same nothwithstanding coverture.
And which said sums of thirty pounds and forty pounds shall
be payable and paid by the said William Maddrell his executors
administrators and assigns to the said Catherine Maddrell and Robert Madrell
there executors administrators and assigns but without any interest but of
or in respect of the same prior to the respective times or dates of payment
thereof as aforesaid.    And I do hereby declare that the next sums of
thirty pounds and forty pounds and the said yearly sum or annuity of two
pounds payable to the said Catharine Maddrell, Robert Maddrell, and Jane
Taggart shall be a good lien charge and encumbrance upon the said lands and
premises hereby devised to the said William Maddrell to all intents and
purposes as fully and effectively as if the
same had been made chargeable thereon under any deed in deeds that I
had power to make for that purpose.  Having heretofore amply provided for my
daughter Ann wife of Humphrey Mylchreest according to my means I hereby
leave her the sum of one pound and her said husband one pound and to each of
their children Stephen, Elizabeth Jane and  Sophia ten shillings each as
legacy.
I leave to Jane wife of the said Thomas Taggart one pound and to her
three children now living  ten shillings each.
I do direct that the yearly sum of annuity payable to the said Jane Taggart
shall commence at the expiration of this ------ two years after
my decease and the first payment shall become due to there at the end or
expiration of three years after my decease.
I leave all the rest of my property goods and effects of every kind and
description moveable and immoveable to my said daughter Catharine Maddrell
and I do hereby appoint her executrix of this my last will and testament
according to law.  Revoking all wills by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this fifth day of
November one thousand eight hundred and sixty two.
