In the name of God Amen – I, Daniel Kaneen of Dhoon in the parish of Braddan
being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this paper
writing as and for my last Will and Testament in manner following –
I leave and bequeath unto my grandson Daniel Kaneen Eldest Son of my eldest
Son Daniel all the Sheep and lambs I may die possessed as intitled unto –
I leave and bequeath unto each of my sons except my son Daniel the sum of five shillings legacy.
I leave and bequeath unto my said son Daniel Kaneen all the rest residue and
remainder of my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever the
same may be and I nominate and appoint my said son Daniel Kaneen my Sole
Executor and my residuary Legatee in witness whereof I have hereunto s
ubscribed my name this seventeenth day of May in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and fifty one.—

I, Daniel Kaneen within name do make and publish this as a Codicil to my
foregoing Will – My Grandson Daniel Kaneen having departed this life, I
leave and bequeath unto my Grandson John Kaneen, son of my son Daniel Kaneen
all the sheep and lambs I may die possessed of or entitled unto and in
case of any said grandson John Kaneen should die before me I leave all my
said sheep and lambs unto my two grand daughters Elizabeth and Sarah Kaneen
daughters of my said son Daniel, or if one is dead the whole to the survivor
and in all other respects I confirm my said will and do hereby do publish
the same this 31st day of October one thousand eight hundred and fifty one

Diocese of Sodor } At a chapter court holden at Douglas on
And Man } the 25 day of May 1866
George William Dunehill one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper
writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament and codicil annexed of
Daniel Kaneen deceased having under oath on the Holy Evangelists that the said
Daniel Kaneen whereof sound mind and understanding duly signed the said will
as and for his last Will and Testament
In his presence and in presence of Thomas Clague the other witness and also the
codicil annexed in his presence and in presence of Robert Shimmin the other
witness Daniel Kaneen the executor therein Named is therefore sworn well and
truly to fulfil and execute the same by paying the just debts legacies and
funeral expenses of the Testator so far forth as the good and effects will extend
and the law bind him and to return a true and perfect Inventory of the same
with an accurate account of his act and proceeding as the promises to the Episcopal
Registry of this Diocese when thereto lawfully required and to these ends he
hath given pledges namely—
William Kelly of the Strang in the parish of Braddan and Daniel Kaneen of Craig E Cowen
in the parish of Braddan who have executed the usual bond in presence of the Court.

Whereas, the Ecclesiastical Court of the Isle and Diocese of Sodor and Mann hath this
day granted probate of the will of Daniel Kaneen late of in the Parish of Braddan
deceased, to Daniel Kaneen
And Whereas William Kelly of W Shaieg in the Parish of Braddan and Daniel Kelly of
Craig & Cowin in the Parish of Braddan have agreed to become Pledges for the due
and faithful Administration of the said Estate by the said Daniel Kaneen according to law.
Now, Know all Men by these Presents, that we, the said Daniel Kaneen and William Kelly
hereby bind and oblige ourselves jointly and severally, our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators,
firmly by these presents, as pledges for the said Daniel Kaneen that he shall will and
truly administer, all and singular, the Personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased
according to Law. And in his default we bind ourselves, and each of us, for the whole,
our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators to be answerable and responsible to the said
Court, and to all parties interested in the said estate and effects, or the administration
thereof in the place and stead of the said Daniel Kaneen.
Witness our subscriptions, this 25 day May in Year of our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty six
