In the name of God, Amen.~ The 
Eighteenth of October, one thousand
Eight hundred and Fifty eight.
I Richard Christian of the Parish 
of Rushen, being very sick, and ~ 
weak of body, but of perfect mind 
and memory, thanks be given unto 
God; therefore calling unto mind 
the mortality of my body, knowing 
that it is appointed once unto all 
men to die, do make and ordain 
this my last Will, and Testament; 
~ That is to say, principally and first
of all, I give and commend my 
soul into the hands of Almighty God 
that gave it, and my body I recommend 
to the earth, to be buried in decent 
Christian burial, at the discretion 
of my executors; nothing doubting 
but at the general resurrection, I
shall receive the same again by 
the almighty, power of God. And as 
touching such worldly estate ~ 
wherewith it has pleased God to ~ 
~ bless Me in this life, I give, demise, 
and dispose of the same, in the 
following manner and form: 
First I give and bequeath to ~ 
Jane Wilson Bedstead bed and 
bedcloathes likewise the dressor and (war..)
a corner cubboard,  and two tables, and 
a chest in the back room, and four 
chairs, Also I give to Martha Christian 
the bedstead and chesterdrawers, 
Also I give and bequeath to my well~ 
beloved son Edward Christian, One 
pound, Also I give and bequeath to my 
son James, One pound 
Also I give and bequeath to my son 
John One pound, Also I give and 
bequeath to my on William One pound, 
Also I give and bequeath to my son ~ 
Charles One pound, Also, I give and 
bequeath to my well-beloved son in ~ 
law, whom I likewise constitute, make 
or ordain, my sole executor of this my 
last Will and Testament, all and 
singular by him freely to be posess'd 
and enjoyed. And I do hereby  utter~ly 
disallow, revoke, and disannul 
all and every other former testaments 
Wills legacies, bequests, and executors, 
by Me in any ways before named, 
willed, and bequeathed; ratifying 
and confirming this, and no other, 
to be my last Will and Testament.

unto set my hand and seal 
this day and year above written 
Signed, sealed published, pronounced 
and declared by the said Richard 
Christian as his last Will and 
Testament in the presence of us

Whereas the Ecclesiasical Court of this Isle and Diocese of Sodor and Mann hath this day 
granted probate of the Will od Richard 
Christian late of Rushen decd. to John Qualtrough 
And whereas William Cannell of Balladoole 
in the Parish of Arbory and James Turnbull
of Port St. Mary in the Parish of Rushen
have agreed to become pledges for the due and faithful Administration of the said  Estate by the said 
John Qualtrough according to Law.

Now, know all Men by these Presents, that we, the said William 
Cannell and James Turnbull hereby bind and 
oblige ourselves, jointly and severally, and our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, firmly by these
presents, as pledges for the said John Qualtrough 
that he shall well and truly administer, all and singular, the Personal Estate and Effects of the 
said deceased accordibg to Law. And in his default, we bind ourselves, and each of us , for the 
whole, our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, to be answerable and responsible to the said Court, 
and to all parties interested in the said Estate and Effects, or the Administration thereof in the place 
and stead of the said John Qualtrough

on the 31st day of May 1867
The foregoing Bond and	Obligation was duly signed and 
delivered, and also acknowledged by the executing par-
ties to be their proper Act and Deed.

	day of May 1867.
William Cannell one of the subscibing witnesses to the foregoing
paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of 
Richard Christian deceased having made Oath upon the 
Holy Evangelists that said Richard Christian the testator 
when of sound and disposing mind, memory and 
understanding  duly signed and executed the same 
as and for his last Will and Testament in his presence 
and in the presence of John Cannell the other subscribing 
witness thereto. John Qualtrough the only son-in-law of the 
testator the executor named therein is therefore sworn 
well and truly to fulfil and execute said Will. and to 
administer all and singular the personal estate and effects 
of said deceased according to law by paying his just 
debts and funeral expenses and the legacies contained 
in his Will so far forth as his goods and effects will 
thereto extend and the Law bind him and to 
return into the Archdeacon's Registry a full true 
and perfect inventory of all and singular. the said 
estate and effects with an accurate account of his 
Administration thereof when thereunto lawfully  
required. And to these ends he hath given 
pledges namely William Cannell of Belladoole 
in the parish of Arbory and James Turnbull of 
Port St. Mary in the parish of Rushen who 
have entered into and executed the usual 
Bonds in the presence of the Court ~
