	The humble petition of William
	John Monk of Ramsey

Sheweth
	That Prestwood Harris of the said
	Town has now(?) departed this life on 
	the 13th day of March instant
	having duly made her mark and
	in which _____ an Executor is named
	who departed this life during
	the life time of the said Prestwood
	Harris.

	That your petitioner is a
	nephew of the said Prestwood Harris
	and is desirous that an inventory
	of her Estate with her will annexed
	should be forthwith granted.

	Therefore your 
	petitioner humbly prays
	a hearing _____and that
	Your Worship will be pleased
	to grant administration with
	the will annexed of the said
	Prestwood Harris to your
	petitioner or any other
	fit and proper person
	& he _________ prays.

Ordered that this petition do come on to be
heard at an Ecclesciastical Court to be
holden  at the Court House in the
Town of Douglas on Thursday 8 April next
at the hour of twelve o’clock noon which
all proper parties and persons that have
due and lawful notice.

	At a Special Ecclesiastical Court
	held at Douglas on the 8th day
	of April 1869.

Upon hearing this petition in the presence
of the parties or their Advocates and
upon proof of the due execution of the
paper writing propounded as the Will of
Prestwood Harris deceased having been
first(?) had (except the words “Harriet Swainson
daughter of Goad Swainson”) interlined above
the sixth line of the second page which
have not been proven or accounted for, 
Administration (of the Estate) with the 
Will of said Prestwood Harris amended (so far as proven)
thus granted to the petitioner William
John Monk as prayed for.

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of the Isle and Diocese of Sodor and Mann hath this day
granted administration with the will amended
of Prestwood Harris late of Ramsey widow to
William John Monk of Ramsey.

And whereas John Harris of Douglas
in the Parish of Braddan and Robert Roskell
of Douglas in the Parish of Braddan
have agreed to become pledges for the due and faithful Administration of the said Estate by the said
William John Monk according to law.

Now, know all Men by these presents, that we, the said John
Harris and Robert Roskell hereby bind and
oblige ourselves, jointly and severally, and our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, firmly by these
presents, as pledges for the said William John Monk
that he shall well and truly administer, all and singular, the Personal Estate and Effects of the
said deceased according to Law.  And in by default, we bind ourselves, and each of us, for the 
whole, our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, to be answerable and responsible to the said Court,
and to all parties interested in the said Estate and Effects, or the Administration thereof in the place
and stead of the said William John Monk.

	Witness our subscriptions, this 8 day of March in Year of our Lord
One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty nine.

The foregoing Bond and Obligation was duly signed and
delivered, and also acknowledged by the executing per-
ties to be their proper Act and Deed.

and publish this paper writing as ______
for my Last Will and Testament

Marriage with my said Husband
Samuel Harris and _______ ____ the
tenth of July one thousand eight
hundred and thirty seven.

I leave and bequeath unto my nephew
William John Monk son of my Brother
John Monk the sum of one Thousand
Pounds British together with my ______
Watch and _____ .  I leave and bequeath to my 
nephew Thomas Arthur Corlett son of my sister		[interlined section not proven
Mary the sum of one Thousand Pounds British.		and not to be copied]
To my God Daughter I leave and bequeath the
sum of Twenty Pounds British.  I leave & bequeath		 [Harriett Swainson daughter 
John Harris nephew to my Husband Samuel			of Goad Swainson]
Harris the sum of twenty Pounds British.
I leave and bequeath to my two Servants _____
Callister and to Catherine Cain should they
be in the house at the time of my death the
sum of five Pounds each and all my earrings
wearing(?) apparel – All these Legacies to be paid
within two months after my demise.

And as to all other ______ residue and remainder
of my Estate Property and Effects whatsoever
and whomsoever the same may  be ____ whether
Real or personal I give ______ and I
bequeath the same unto my said
Husband the said Samuel Harris as 
his absolute Property and entirely at
his disposal and ___________ including
_________ all Property to which I am or may
become entitled to.  And I do hereby
nominate and appoint my said Husband
the said Samuel Harris my sole
Executor and Residue Legatee hereby
breaking all other Wills by me ________

Lord one thousand eight hundred

		At a Special Ecclasiastical Court held at
		Douglas on the 8th day of April 1869.
	John Harris and William Gell the subscribing
	Witnesses to the foregoing paper writing purporting
	to be the last Will and Testament of Prestwood
Harris deceased having made Oath upon the Holy Evangelists
that the said testratrix Prestwood Harris when of sound and 
disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed and
executed the same (except the words “Harriett Swainson daughter
of Goad Swainson” interlined above the sixth line of the second
page of this Will of which the witnesses have no knowledge)
as and for her last Will and Testament in their presence.
And Samuel Harris the Executor therein named having died
many years ago before the testatrix.  Administration (to
the Estate) with the Will annexed of said Prestwood Harris
Widow deceased is hereby granted and committed unto William
John Monk and accordingly he is sworn to perform the Will
and to administer all and singular the personal estate and
effects of the deceased according to Law by paying the just
debts and funeral expenses of the deceased and the legacies
contained in her Will so far forth as her Estate and Effects
will thereto extend and the law bind him and also to return
into th Archidiaconal Registry of the Isle of Mann a full
true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said estate
and effects with an accurate account of his administration thereof when
thereunto lawfully required and to these ends he hath given pledges
namely John Harris and Robert Roskell, both of the town of Douglas
who have entered into and executed the usual Bond in the
presence of the Court.
