This is declared to be the last will and testament of me 
Hugh Gill being of sound disposing mind and mem
=ory at the making hereof and first I commit my
Soul to god and my body to decent Christian burial.
And as touching[sic] the wordly goods wherewith God
has blessed me I dispose of the same in manner
following.  I leave and bequeath to my wife Margaret
and to my Daughter Margaret now wife of John Locket
for and during the natural life time of my wife.
Also the whole of the rents issues and profits of the
Estate of Naradal in the parish of Lezayre and also
the interest arising from or upon such Bonds and Secur
=ities and promissory notes as shall be due and arising to
me at the time of my death together with the earnings
or profits coming in or arising from the Schooner Mary
Jane of Ramsey, they paying to James Callow of
Ramsey the interest arising from year to year on a 
Bond & Security for œ140 which he holds on the Estate of
Naradal.  Also during the time of my wife's natural life
I give leave & bequeath to my Daughter Margaret wife 
of John Locket all my Household furniture Beds &
Beddings as Legacy, I give leave & bequeath to my only 
Son and heir apparent whatever Securities I hold
on the Estate of Naradal also whither by assignment
or otherwise as Legacy.

I nominate constitute and appoint Edward Kenyon
my son in law and my daughter Margaret wife of 
John Locket Joint Executors of this my last will
and testament and residuary Legatees of all the
rest of my goods chattels and effects of what kind
or nature soever.  In witness whereof I subscribe
my name hereto as and for my last will & testament
this the 16th August 1870.

	At a Chapter Court held at Ramsey on the
	26th day of May 1871.

John Looney and William Lucas the subscribing witnesses to the
execution of the foregoing paper writing purporting to be
the last Will and Testament of Hugh Gill late of the 
Parish of Lezayre deceased having made Oath on the Holy
Evangelists that said testator Hugh Gill when of sound and
disposing mind memory and understanding duly signed
and acknowledged the same as and for his last Will
and Testament in their presence and that they at 
the same time in the presence of the Testator and of each
other subscribed the same in attestation thereof.
Edward Kenyon the son-in-law of this testator and John 
Locket Husband of Margaret Locket (formerly Margaret
Gill) and in sight of this said Wife the daughter of the deceased the Executors
named in the said Will are therefore seen well and 
truly to fulfil and execute the said Will and to administer
all and singular the personal estate and effects of the
said deceased according to Law by paying the just debts
and funeral expenses of the said deceased and the
legacies contained in his Will so far forth as his
estate and effects will thereto extend and the law
bind them and to return to the Archidioconal[sic] Registry
of the Isle of Mann a full true and perfect inventory
of all and singular the said estate and effects with
an accurate account of their Administration thereof
when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends
they have given pledges namely John Looney and
William Lucas who have entered into and executed the
usual Bond in the presence of the Court.

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of the Isle and Diocese of Sodor and Mann hath this day
granted probate of the Will of Hugh Gill late of
Lezayre decd to Edward Kenyon & John Locket in sight of
his wife Margaret the executors.
And whereas John Looney of Ramsey
in the Parish of Maughold and William Lucas
of Ramsey in the Parish of Maughold
have agreed to become pledges for the due and faithful Administration of the said Estate by the said
Edward Kenyon & John Locket according to Law,

Now, Know all Men by these Presents, that we, the said John
Looney and William Lucas hereby bind and
oblige ourselves, jointly and severally, and our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, firmly by these
presents, as pledges for the said Edward Kenyon & John Locket
that they shall well and truly administer, all and singular, the Personal Estate and Effects of the
said deceased according to Law.  And in their default, we bind ourselves, and each of us, for the
whole, our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, to be answerable and responsible to the said Court,
and to all parties interested in the said Estate and Effects, or the Administration thereof in the place
and stead of the said Edward Kenyon & John Locket.

	Witness our subscriptions, this 26th day of May in the Year of our Lord
One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy one.
