53 Maughold In the name of God Amen. We the Rev Bowyer Harrison Vicar of the parish of Maughold and Mrs Theodosia Harrison my wife having taken into consideration the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound disposing mind memory and understanding praised be God for the same) do make publish and declare this out last joint will and testament in manner and form following. First we commit our souls into the hands of Almighty God our Creator hoping for a remission of all our sins through the merits of our Saviour Jesus Christ and our bodies we commit to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of our executors hereafter to be named and as to all our worldly estate both real and personal we give devise and bequeath the same as follows: First we leave and devise and bequeath to our daughter Maria Theodosia the sum of eight hundred pounds besides our best gold watch with gold face, our silver tea pot and stand, the largest silver cream ewer, a pair of sugar tongs, one dozen silver teaspoons with crest, two gravey spoons, two sauce ladles, fish slice, two pickle forks, six table spoons, six dessert spoons, four best salt spoons, one butter knife, a case containing a silver knife, fork and spoon, a small silver cup marked M. A.H., the best bed, two pair of blankets and counterpane, and one half of our linen, china, jewelry, and wearing apparel. Secondly we leave devise and bequeath to our daughter Theodosia Emily the sum of eight hundred pounds, a small gold watch, six silver tablespoons, six silver dessert spoons, one dozen teaspoons, four salt spoons, two gravey spoons, two sauce ladles, one soup ladle, two pickle forks, one pair of sugar tongs, a silver teapot cream ewer, muffineer bed with ironbed stead two pair blankets, one counterpane, the other half of our linen, china, jewelry, and wearing apparel. Thirdly we leave devise and bequeath to our son David the sum of five hundred pounds, his fathers gold watch, four silver tablespoons, sixteen spoons, wine strainer and stand, four salt spoons, silver knife and fork with pearl half, also we leave devise and bequeath unto him our said son David all and singular small dwelling house and garden situate near the vicarage house in the said parish of Maughold which we purchased from Catherine Christian of the town of Ramsey to have and to hold unto him our said son David his heirs and assigns forever the said dwelling house garden and premises with all ways, waters,watercourses,apppurtenances unto the same belonging and commencing possession thereof immediately on the decease of the survivor of us, but, not sooner. Fourthly We leave devise and bequeath to our son Stephen Nathaniel the sum of five hundred pounds, four silver tablespoons, four teaspoons, Marrow spoon, punch ladle, butter knife, a gold tooth pick. Fifthly we leave devise and bequeath to our son George Bowyer the sum of five hundred pounds, a gold watch with a flaw in the face of it, silver snuffers and tray and a half pint silver cup. Sixthly we leave devise and bequeath to the succeeding Vicar of the said parish of Maughold and his successors the Vicars of the said parish forever a certain parcel of ground situate in front of the vicarage house of the said parish together with a small house erected on the said parcel of ground adjoining the dwelling house at present occupied by Martin Callow and which is more particularly mentioned and described in a service of the Glebe of the said parish recorded in the Episcopal Registry to have and to hold unto him the said Vicar and his successors forever as part of the vicarage Glebe of the said parish. Seventhly We leave devise and bequeath unto Jane Shimmin a servant now in our serice the annuity of five pounds payable to her yearly during her life time also a feather bed and bedstead and the usual bedding provided she continues to live in the family - The first payment or annuity to commence from the end of one year after the death of the survivor of us. And so on yearly as aforesaid afterwards and to be paid out of the profits and issues of the surplus of our property by such executor as may be appointed by the survivor of us in any will or codicil to be hereafter executed by such survivor. Eightly we devise and bequeath to the Vicar and Wardens of the said parish for the benefit of the poor of the said parish the sum of thirty pounds and it is our will and we hereby direct and provide that none of the said legatees shall be paid untill twelve months after the deaath of the survivor of us which survivor is hereby nominated and appointed as sole executor or executrix of this our joint will and residuary legatee of all the rest residue and remainder of our property not herein disposed. In witness whereof we the said Bowyer Harrison and Theodosia Harrison have hereunto subscribed our names this first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven. Bowyer Harrison Theodosia Harrison Witnesses: William John Monk Jno Monk Codicil to the foregoing will whereas Mrs Theodosia Harrison one of the foregoing testators has departed this life and it has become necessary that an executor and residuary legatee should be named by the survivor. Therefore I the said B. Harrison the survivor of the said testator hereby nominate and appoint my daughter Maria Theodosia executor and residuary legatee of the said will and request that John Monk Esq may act as executor in trust for his benefit - she being under age. In witness whereof I the said B. Harrison have hereunto subscribed my name this 20th day of February 1855. B. Harrison Witnesses: John Monk William Jno Monk Whereas John Monk Esquire the before named executor in trust, has departed this life it has become necessary to nominate and appoint another to act in the said capacity. I do hereby appoint and request that William John Monk Esquire may act as executor in trust for the benefit of my said daughter Maria Theodosia - her being under age. I Bowyer Harrison Vicar of Maughold do hereby leave devise and bequeath to the Vicar and Wardens of said parish for the use and benefit of the poor of said parish a further sum of fifty pounds to the thirty pounds within named as witness my subscription this 9th day of February 1862. Bowyer Harrison Maria Theodosia Harrison renounced executorixship of will with her brother Stephen Nathaniel Harrison becoming executor 17 May 1871
