This is the last will and testament of me Eleanor Cowley (widow of the
late John Cowley) of Ballalig in the parish of German made the second
day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixty nine.
I leave and bequeath to my son John Cowley the sum of two shillings and
six pence as a legacy.
I leave and bequeath to my son Richard Cowley the sum of two shillings
and six pence as a legacy.
I leave and bequeath to my son Philip Cowley the sum of two shillings
and six pence as a legacy.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Ann wife of Thomas Holland (at present
residing in the United States of North America) the sum of two shillings and
six pence as a legacy.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Margaret wife of James Craine of German
to be paid to her the said Margaret free from the control or interference of
her said husband in manner following, that is to say, by installments of
four pounds four shillings per year - the first of which installments to be
paid to her on the twelfth day of November next after my death, and
afterwards on the same day in each year until the whole
will be discharged and I direct that my said daughter Margaret shall not
be entitled to receive interest on the said legacy and that her receipt
only shall be a sufficient discharge to my executrix for the said
installments, provided nevertheless that if the remaining installment or
installments be paid to my granddaughter Elizabeth Craine daughter of
the said James Craine and that her receipt be a full discharge to my
executrix.
I leave and bequeath to my daughter Catherine Cowley the sum of thirty
pounds as a legacy and also my best bedstead, best feather bed, mattress,
two sheets, two blankets, two quilts, two pillows and one bolster as
legacy.
I leave and bequeath to my grandson William Cowley (natural son of my late
son William Cowley ) the sum of twenty pounds as a legacy.
I hereby direct that no interest be paid on any of the before mentioned
legacies.
And lastly I nominate, constitute, and appoint my daughter Jane Quayle
(widow of the late Robert Henry Quayle) of the town of Peel, executrix of
this my will and residuary legatee of my personal estate.

At a Chapter Court held at Peel on 22 Oct 1875.
Jane Quayle who has since intermarried with Edward Cubbon in right of
his wife Jane the executrix named was sworn executrix with pledges
Philip Cowley of Peel and Evan Quirk of Patrick.
Know all men by these presents that Margaret Craine, alias Crellin, alias
Cowley doth hereby own and acknowledge to have received from Jane Cubbin
executrix of the will of Eleanor Cowley mother of the said
Margaret Craine the sum of twenty one pounds payable four pounds four
shilling per year being the amount of a legacy bequeathed to her by her last
will dated 2nd Oct 1869. Probate whereby was at an Ecclesiastical Court
held in Peel on 22nd Oct 1875 granted to the said Jane Cubbin and the said
Margaret Craine doth direct that the said legacy be crossed and cancelled on
record.

Know all men by these presents that Catharine Cowley of Peel spinster doth
own and acknowledge to have received from Edward Cubbon of the said town,
Master Mariner the sum of thirty pounds being the amount of a legacy
bequeathed to the said Catharine Cowley in her mother Eleanor Cowley widow
of John Cowley of Ballacraine in the parish of German deceased under her
last will probate whereof was at a Chapter Court
held in Peel on the 22nd day of October 1875 granted to the since Edward
Cubbin in right of his wife Jane Cubbin daughter of the said Eleanor
Cowley the executrix named in the said will. And the said Catharine
Cowley doth hereby direct that the said legacy be crossed and stand
cancelled in record.
In witness whereof she hath hereunto subscribed her name this 24th day of
November 1875.

Know all men by these presents that William Cowley of Ballacraine in
the parish of German doth own and acknowledge to have received from Edward
Cubbon of the said town Master Mariner the sum of twenty
pounds being the amount of a legacy bequeathed to the said William
Cowley by the will of Eleanor Cowley widow of John Cowley of
Ballacraine in the parish of German deceased by her said will Probate
whereof was at a Chapter Court held in Peel on the 2 October 1875 granted to
the said Edward Cubbon in right of his wife Jane Cubbon daughter of the
said Eleanor Cowley the executrix named in said will and the said William
Cowley doth hereby direct that the said legacy be
crossed and stand cancelled upon record. In witness whereof he hath
hereunto subscribed his name this 27 day of November 1875.
