To His Worship Richard Jebb Esq., Vicar General.
The Humble Petition of Charlotte Cowin of the Parish of Santon Spinster
Herewith. That your petitioners mother Catherine Cowin wife of Robert Cowin Deceased
departed this life on or about the 12th day of October 1872 1862 intestate. That it is
necessary that some fit and proper person be sworn to administer the goods and effects of
the said Catherine Cowin. Whereupon your petitioner humbly prays a hearing hereof and that
your Worship may be pleased to swear in your petitioner or some other fit and proper person
to administer the goods and effects of the said Catherine Cowin deceased and your petitioner
will pray so to do.

Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at an Ecclesiastical Court to be held at
Douglas on Thursday the 24th day of February 1876 at 10 o'clock in the forenoon. - Whereof
all proper parties and persons are to have due and lawful notice -

Whereas Catherine Cowin departed this life on the 12th day of October 1872 (sic) intestate
and at an Ecclesiastical Court held at Douglas on the 24th day of February 1876 Charlotte
Cowin was sworn administrator of the said Catherine Cowin. And whereas the said Charlotte
Cowin has realised a legacy of One Hundred and five pounds bequeathed to the said
Catherine Cowin by William Quine deceased and there being no other personal estate of the
said Catherine Cowin as far as is known Robert Cowin and Thomas Cowin sons of the said
Catherine Cowin and Robert Cowin senior deceased (who survived the said Catherine Cowin)
have called upon the said Catherine Cowin administrator as aforesaid to pay to them the said
Robert Cowin and Thomas Cowin the sum of Twenty five pounds each being their respective
share of the said money so realised as aforesaid after deducting costs and expenses which
the said Charlotte Cowin has agreed to do. Now know all men that the said Robert Cowin and
Thomas Cowin do hereby acknowledge to have received from the said Charlotte Cowin
administrator as aforesaid the sum of Twenty five pounds each as next of kin of the said
Robert Cowin senior deceased. And they do hereby release and discharge the said Charlotte
Cowin and the estate of the said Catherine Cowin from all claims in respect of the same. In
witness whereof they have hereunto subscribed their names this 22nd day of March 1876.

William Quirk (of Douglas), as Guardian of Catherine Eliza Cowin
received £25 as her share.
Whereas Catharine Cowin departed this life on the 12th day of October 1872
intestate and at an Eccl Court held at Douglas on the 24th day of
Feb 1876 Charlotte Cowin was sworn administratrix of the said
Catharine Cowin. And whereas Robert Cowin senior deceased husband of the
said Catharine Cowin having survived his said wife some time since departed
this life.
And whereas the said Charlotte Cowin as administratrix as aforesaid has
realized a legacy of one hundred and five pounds bequeathed to the said
Catharine Cowin by William Quine deceased and there being no other personal
estate of the said Catharine Cowin as far as is known Catharine Eliza Cowin
a minor daughter of the said Robert Cowin and Catharine
Cowin deceased as one of the next of kin of the said Robert Cowin has by her
guardian (William Quirk of the town of Douglas called upon the said
Charlotte Cowin administratrix as aforesaid for payment of the sum of twenty
five pounds being her share of the money so realized as aforesaid after
deducting the costs and expenses of administration of the said estate of
the said Catharine Cowin. Now Know all men that the said Catharine Eliza
Cowin in by her said guardian William Quirk doth hereby acknowledge to have
received from the said Charlotte Cowin
administratrix as aforesaid the said sum of twenty five pounds and doth
hereby release and discharge the said Charlotte Cowin and the estate of the
said Catharine Cowin for all claim in respect of the same
In witness whereof the said Catharine Eliza Cowin by the said William
Quirk hath hereunto subscribed her name this Twenty fifth day of March 1876.
