This is the last will and testament 
of me George Clarke and Mary 
my wife of the Town 
of Douglas--------------------
We give and bequeath to the 
children of my deceased son 
Archibald Clarke the sum of 
thirty pounds to be paid to them 
in equal proportions upon their 
attaining the age of twenty one years. 
We give and bequeath to my sons 
Joseph Clarke saddler and Henry Clarke
tailor and George Clarke tailor 
the sum of thirty pounds each. 
We give to Louise Crellin and 
Amelia Crellin granddaughters the 
sum of five pounds each. 
On them attaining the age of twenty one years.
We give and bequeath to two 
daughters Eliza Bridson and 
Ann Crellin the sum of 
one pound each.
We leave and bequeath to the Primitive 
Methodist Chappell (sic) Wellington Street 
the sum of twenty pounds. 
I Mary Clarke do leave and 
bequeath to Thomas Nickle better 
known by Thomas Cringle the sum 
of twenty pounds at my decease 
to be paid by instalments of five 
shillings per week. 
I George Clarke do agree to pay 
the five shillings per week to the 
said Thomas Nickle or Cringle as the case may be.
We also agree that the longest 
liver of us shall possess and enjoy 
all property moneys goods chattels 
and effects of whatsoever nature 
or kind or wheresoever situate 
real and personal during 
his or her natural life. 
And we hereby direct that our 
executor shall not pay the foregoing 
legacies until the expiration of twelve
calendar months after our decease 
and in the event of our moneys 
not being sufficient to discharge 
the said legacies then and in that 
case the said legacies shall be 
reduced proportionately to the amount 
of cash we may die possessed of.
We give devise and bequeath to 
my son William Clarke all of our real 
property and the residue and remainder 
of our personal property absolutely 
and appoint the said William 
sole executor of this our last 
will and testament revoking all 
former instruments mad (sic) by us. 
In witness hereof we have hereunto 
subscribed our names this the thirty 
first day of May one thousand eight 
hundred and seventy eight
