     In the name of God Amen.
I John Hannah of the Village in the Parish of 
Kirk Michael – Being of sound and disposing  
mind memory and understanding but knowing
the uncertainty of life – Do make this my last
Will and Testament in form and manner 
following.  Viz.

     In the first and principal place
I commit my soul to God and my body
to a Christian burial.

     Secondly I leave and bequeath to my son 
John James that field at present in my possession
commonly known and called the Breggan situated
in the above Parish and he is not to posses the same
field until and after the death of my wife Anne Hannah
and he is likewise to pay to my two sons 
Philip Edward and Ritchard the sum of Five 
Pounds each – and also he is to pay to my three
daughters Eleanor Jane the sum of Ten Pounds
and to my daughter Margret the sum of Twenty 
Pounds, and to my daughter Anne the sum of
Ten Pounds so soon as he takes possesion of the
above mentioned field and not sooner.

     Thirdly I leave and bequeath to my
daughter Margret two feather beds with bedding
and also all the household furniture of whatever
kind or wherever after the death of my wife
her mother and not sooner.
     I also leave and bequeath to all others 
who may be lawfully entitled to participate in any
portion of my personal estate each a legacy of
one shilling and no more.
And lastly I nominate constitute and appoint
my said wife Anne Hannah Sole Executrix of this
my last will and testament and residuary legatee
after the payment of all debts and legacies of all and
singular my goods chattels rights credits money and
effects or personal estate whatever and wheresoever.
     In testimony whereof I have here unto subscribed
my name this is the Fifth day of August one thousand
eight Hundred and seventy nine   1879.

At a Chapter Court held at Peel on the 10th day
October 1879.

Caine the subscribing witnesses
to the execution of the foregoing paper writing purporting
to be the last will and testament  of John Hannah
late of the Village in the Parish of Michael deceased
the testator who died on the 22nd  day of  August 
1879 having made oath on the Holy Evangelists that the
testator John Hannah when of sound and disposing
mind memory and understanding duly signed
and acknowledged the same as and for his last
will and testament in their presence and that
they at the same time in his presence at his
request and in the presence of each other did
there and then subscribe their names as attesting
witnesses. Anne Hannah the widow and
relict of the testator the Executrix of the
said will named is therefore sworn well 
and truly to fulfil and execute the said
will and to administer all and singular
the personal estate and effects of the testator
according to law by paying his just debts
funeral and testamentary  expenses and the legacy
contained in his will so far forth as the
goods and effects will thereto extend and
the law bind her and to return unto the
Episcopal Registry of the Isle and Diocese
of Soder and Man a full true and perfect
inventory of the said estate and effects
with an accurate account of her acts
and proceedings in the premises when
thereunto lawfully required and to these ends
she hath given pledges namely John
Quayle of the Village and Thomas
Caine of the Village in the Parish
of Michael who have entered into
and executed the usual bond in
the presence of this court.
