The humble petition of John Lewin of the town of Douglas and Elizabeth Lewin
his wife.
Sheweth: That John Caine late of Derby Road in the town of Douglas
Gentleman departed this life on the 29th day of June 1878 having first duly
made and published his last will and testament in writing whereof he
appointed your petitioner Elizabeth Lewin executrix.
The petitioners are desirous of obtaining probate of the said will wherefore
petitioners humbly pray a hearing hereof and that probate of the said will
of the said John Caine deceased may be granted to your petitioner to John
Lewin in right of his wife Elizabeth Lewin the executrix therein named and
petitioners will ever pray.
This is the last will and testament of the John Caine of Derby Road in the
town of Douglas in the Isle of Man Gentleman. I being at the making hereof
of sound mind memory and understanding. I revoke all former will or wills
by me at any time hereto fore made.
I leave devise and bequeath to my daughter Ann Edmundson wife of Edmund
Edmundson of Heaton Norris in the Borough of Stockport in the county of
Lancaster Professor of Music the sum of one hundred pounds sterling as
legacy.
I leave devise and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my
personal estate and the whole of my real estate of every description and
whersoever situated unto my daughter Elizabeth Lewin wife of John Lewin of
Derby Road in the town of Douglas in the Isle of Man aforesaid Blacksmith
to have and to hold the same unto her and her heirs executors administrators
and assigns forever.
I nominate and appoint the said Elizabeth Lewin executrix of this my last
will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name
this twelfth day of June 1878. John Caine his x mark

and testament in our presence who in his presence at the same time at his
request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names
as witnesses:
