Note: this Will was contested by the Rev Thomas Caine's daughter Jane Margaret, but was accepted and probate was granted to Anne Creer Caine as Executrix. Documents of the extensive Court proceeding have not been transcribed here.
Rev. Thomas Cain Lonan 1880 No. 88 This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Caine, Vicar of Lonan, Isle of Mann, I being of sound mind and understanding at the making hereof - I leave to my sister Margaret Caine, all and singular that Dwelling house yard and premises number 39 formerly 63 Derby Road in the Parish of Conchan near the town of Douglas, which I purchased on the 17th March 1874, from Mr James Whalley, during her life, and at her death to my daughter Anne Creer Caine, during her life, and at her death to my Granddaughter Isabella Sharpe, her heirs Executors and assigns absolutely for ever- But should she die before my daughter Anne Creer Caine, in that case, the said Anne Creer Caine is to have it for herself, her heirs Executors and assigns absolutely for ever. I leave my daughter Jane Margaret Sharpe, the sum of twenty pounds for her own separate use. I revoke all other Wills made by me and I nominate constitute and appoint my daughter Anne Creer Caine whole and sole Executrix and residary legatee of the remainder of my personal estate of every description that now belongs to me or may hereafter belong to me - Witness my name this 27th day of April 1874.
