This is the last will and testament of me
Thomas Cretney, Farmer, now living at Ballawilley Killey
in the parish of Marown, and formerly of Tosaby
in the Parish of Malew
I do hereby revoke all wills and testamentary
writings by me at any time heretofore made.
I give devise and bequeath unto my eldest son
James Cretney of Ballawilley-Killey in the Parish of Marown
Farmer, that hereditary estate called Toseby, Tosaby-
Kermode, Tosaby-Cretney, situate in the Parish of
Malew: also that hereditary intack called Tosaby
Intack containing twelve acres or thereabouts and
situate in the Parish of Marown: also that portion
of Intack lately purchased from the Crown lying
between Tosaby-Cretney on the north west and a
road leading from Foxdale to St Marks on the south-
east, situate partly in the Parish of Malew and
partly in the Parish of Marown, and now in the
occupation of the said James Cretney. Also all
hereditary lands wherever situate.
I give devise and bequeath to my son William
Cretney, Farmer, on the condition hereafter named
one undivided moiety of that estate called Tosaby-Cain
or Tosaby-Bell, situate in the Parish of Malew: also
one undivided moiety of that portion of Tosaby Intack
situate in the Parish of Marown containing about
five acres, more or less, and now tenanted by Thomas Cain :
also an undivided moiety of the remainder of those
Intack Lands, lately purchased from the Crown, and lying
to the south west of the portion of Intack devised
to my son James Cretney : provided however
and on condition that the said William Cretney
pay and hand over to my executor or executors
the sum of three hundred pounds, the payment
of which sum is to be sufficient discharge and
release for all moneys now due to me by the
aforesaid William Cretney my son. And should
the aforesaid William Cretney refuse or neglect
to pay to my Executor or Executors the said sum
of three hundred pounds British within
six months after my death, then all the land
which I have ? above conditionally devised to him I give devise and
bequeath in equal portions to my eldest son James
and my son Edward herinafter mentioned
I give devise and bequeath to my son Edward
Cretney of Ballaglonney in the Parish of Marown
Farmer, the other undivided moiety of the several
lands, estates and Intacks above conditionally given
devised and bequeathed to my son William Cretney
I give devise and bequeath to my son Robert Cretney now
residing in America the sum of eighty pounds
Also to my daughter Eleanor wife of William
Kermode of Ballacallin Moar in the Parish of Marown
one hundred pounds. Also to my daughter
Ann wife of Joseph Cretney of Ballamenaugh
in the Parish of Onchan one hundred pounds
also to my daughter Sophia Patience wife of
William Collister of the town of Douglas, Draper
the sum of one hundred pounds. And
as to the rest, residue and remainder of
all my real and personal estate, I give devise
and bequeath the same unto my eldest
son James Cretney for his own absolute use
and benefit. And I hereby nominate
constitute and appoint my aforesaid eldest son
James Cretney and John Quine of Ballig, in
the Parish of Onchan, Farmer, executors of
this my will. In witness whereof I the
said Thomas Cretney have hereunto subscribed
my name this the twentieth Day of May one
thousand eight hundred and seventy nine (1879)
