To his Worship Richard Jebb Esquire Vicar Gen’l of the Diocese of Sodor and Man

1882   The humble petition of Eleanor Kaneen of Ballewillyn in the parish of
No 74  Braddan, widow

Shewith,
    That petitioners late husband John Kaneen of Ballawillyn aforesaid died 
	in July last having duly made his will whereof he appointed your petitioner 
	executrix.
    That the said deceased has left certain live stock which it is necessary 
	should be provided for and petitioner is desirous that probate of the 
	said will should be granted to her with all convenient speed,

      Wherefor your petitioner humbly prays a hearing hereof and that your 
	  Worship may be pleased to grant probate of the said will to your petr 
	  and petr will pray etc

This the last joint will and testament of John Kaneen of 
Ballawooilben in the parish of Braddan and Eleanor Kaneen 
his wife, bothe being of sound mind, Memory; & understanding 
1st We Commit our souls to God and our bodies to a decent 
Christian burial.
2nd  We leave and bequeath the field we have bought called 
a Krroson by the name of Braugh Arcn Lagh and containing 
about five acres of land to our nephew Robert Kaneen Junr 
of Airay-Ween in the parish of Braddan and to his heirs 
for ever, and hereby bind him that heirs Neither to sell 
nor mortgage the same,
And lastly we nominate and appoint the survivor of either 
of us to have the benefit of the field while he or she liveth 
and be desirous to have the whole and sole controle of 
all the rest of the goods chattels and effects of what kind, 
name, or nature soever.

This the twelfth day of July 1882

               At a Special Ecclestical court
               Holden at Douglas on the 23rd day of August 1882
William Callow and John Quayle the subscribing witnesses to 
the execution of thes foregoing proper writing purporting 
to be the last will and testament of John Kaneen late of 
Ballawooillen in the parish of Braddan deceased, who died 
on or about the 12th day of July 1882, having made oath in 
the Holy Evangelists that said testator John Kaneen, when 
of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding duly 
signed and acknowledged the same as not for lics last will 
and testament in the presence of said testator and of each 
other subscribed the same in attestation thereof ---
Eleanor Kaneen, Widow, the Relict of the said deceased the 
survivor and executrix according to the tenor of said Will 
is therefore Sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute 
said will and to administer all and singular the personal 
estate and effects of the said deceased according to Law by 
paying the just debts funeral and testamentary expenses of 
the said deceased and the legacies contained in his said Will 
so far forth as his said estate and effects will thereto extend 
and the law bind her – And to return to the Diocesan Registry 
of this Isle and Diocese of Sodor each all and a full true 
and perfect inventory of all and singular the said estate 
and effects with an accurate account of her administration 
thereof when thereunto lawfully required.  And to these ends 
she hath given Pledges namely Robert Kaneen of Earywach in 
the parish of Braddan and William Callow of Saney in the 
parish of Lonan who have entered into and executed the said 
Bond in the presence of this court – Power reserved to the 
said Eleanor Kaneen Widow and relict of the said deceased 
to elect whether she will take under the foregoing Will or 
her rights according to Law. –

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Isle and Diocese 
of Sador and Mann hath this day granted Probate of the last 
will and testament of John Kaneen late of Ballawillyan in 
the Parish of Braddan deceased, to Eleanor Kaneen Widow, 
the Relict of the said deceased the executrix named therein 
according to the tenor of said Will –

And Whereas, Robert Kaneen of Earyween in the Parish of Braddan 
and William Callow of Ladey in the Parish of Lonan have agreed 
to become Pledges for the due and faithful Administration of 
the said Estate by the said Eleanor Kaneen according to Law

Now, Know all Men by these Presents, that we the said Robert 
Kaneen and William Callow hereby bind and oblige ourselves, 
jointly and severally, and our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, 
firmly by these presents, as pledges for the said Eleanor 
Kaneen that she shall well and truly administer, all and singular, 
the Personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased, according 
to law.  And in her default we bind ourselves, and each of us, 
our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, to be answerable and 
responsible for the whole to the said Court and to all parties 
interested in the said Estate and Effects, or the administration 
thereof, in the place and stead of the said Eleanor Kaneen –

Witness our Subscriptions, this 23rd day of August in the Year 
of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and eighty two
