1884 Lonan 107
In the name of God, Amen, I
Thomas Looney of Minorca, Laxey
in the Parish of Lonan, miner, being
of sound mind memory and understanding
do make this my last Will and Testament
in manner following hereby revoking and
cancelling all wills heretofore made by me.
First I leave devise and bequeath
to my son William Henry Looney and his
wife Margaret Looney for and during the
period of their natural life time, the small
dwelling ^house in which they now live situate at
Minorca in the said Parish, and also the
small coal house, used occasionally as a
workshop and the little outoffice adjoining it.
The said coalhouse and and little outoffice is on
the east side of the walk or pathway leading
from the road to the front entrance of
the said dwelling house. I also leave and bequeath
to my said son William Henry Looney and
his wife Margaret during their natural
life time twenty yards in length of the
garden, measuring from the most easterly
point along the road in the direction of the
aforesaid outbuildings, and they are to pay
the sum of five shillings annually as
ground rent, and all rates and taxes
annually incumbent thereon during
their natural life time. Upon the decease
of the survivor of them, the said two-
room dwelling house, and the said
coal house or workshop and outoffice
together ^with the said portions of garden
are all to become the absolute property
of the eldest child (whether son or daughter)
of my said son William Henry Looney
that may then be living.
Next I leave devise and bequeath to
my daughter Mary Ann Emily Cleator
widow of the late William Cleator the
four-room dwelling house in which I now
live situate in Minorca, in the said Parish
of Lonan together with the shed or work
house adjoining the east gable and the
whole of the remainder of the garden
as her absolute property. She is to pay
annually five shillings ground rent, and
also to be responsible for encumbrance
in the way of mortgage upon the property.
My said son William Henry Looney
and my said daughter Mary Ann Emily
Cleator are to have general rights to the
street or roadway leading to the said
dwelling houses. Next I leave devise and
bequeath to all and every person or persons
having or pretending to have a right to
claim in this my last Will and Testament
the sum of one shilling.
I hereby nominate constitute and
appoint my said daughter Mary Anne
Emily Cleator my whole and sole
executrix and residual legatee of
all the rest and remainder of my personal
Estate. And I have hereunto subscribed
my name this the twenty sixth day of
March in the year one thousand, eight
hundred and eighty four.
