The humble petition of Robert Kermeen of the The Cloven Stones in the parish
of Lonan labourer and John Tarbet of the town of Douglas Master Mariner and
Annie Tarbet his wife.
Sheweth: That John Cowin of St Charles, Hopkins County, Kentucky in the
United States of America but formerly of the said parish of Lonan Miner
departed this life on the 8th day of March 1887 intestate.
That petitioners are desirous of obtaining administration of the estate
and effects of the said John Cowin deceased within this diocese. Wherefore
petitioners humbly pray a hearing hereof and that administration of the
estate and effects of the said John Cowin deceased may be granted to your
petitioner John Tarbet with such other relief as
is meet. And petitioner's will pray Claude Cannell for petitioners
Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at a court to be held at
Douglas on Monday the 24th day of May 1888, at 11 o'clock forenoon. Whereof
all proper parties and persons are to have due and lawful notice. Given at
Douglas this 24th day of May 1888.

At a court held at Douglas the 14th day of May 1888.
Upon hearing this petition in presence of the parties or their advocate
and it being proved that John Cowin of St Charles, Hopkins County Kentucky
in the United States of America and formerly of the parish of Lonan Miner on
or about the 8th day of March 1887 departed this life and intestate.
This court hath decreed John Tarbet of Princes Street in the town of Douglas
Master Mariner administrator of all and singular the personal estate and
effects of the said deceased, and accordingly he is sworn
well and truly to administer the said estate and effects of the said
deceased by paying his just debts and funeral expenses so far forth as
the said estate and effects will extend and the law bind him and
distributing the residue according to law, and to return to the proper
registry a full, true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said
estate and effects with an accurate account of his administration
thereof when thereunto lawfully required.

Mr Claude Cannell sir.
Your of 23rd arrived safe I will sign your paper as you requested me. I
was well acquainted with the said John Cowin of this place he was a
good man when sober. He was sick a long time and got out of money
when he died but we put him away nice.
I went before Judge Martin and make oath. Well if you want anymore witness
of this death I can get them for you.
My charges is nothing. I will say if you get the money I think you ought
to get him tume(tomb) stone if you want to hear from me at any time write
and oblige.

In the matter of the petition of Robert Kermeen of the The Cloven Stones in
the parish of Lonan in the Isle of Man Farmer, and John Tarbet of the own of
Douglas in the said island Master Mariner for administration of
the estate and effects of John Cowin of St Charles Hopkins County Kentucky
in the United States of America.
I James F. Householder of St Charles Hopkins County in the United States
of America make oath and say
That I was intimately acquainted with the said John Cowin who died at
St Charles, Hopkins County in the United States of America on the eight day
of March one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven a bachelor and
intestate - deligent search having been made for a will of the said John
Cowin deceased but no will was found.

Estate of John Cowin of St Charles Hopkins County Kentucky USA Miner Know
all men by these presents that we John Tarbet Princes Street Douglas Master
Mariner, Thomas Quayle Stone cutter and Robert Craine retired nailer both of
the same place are jointly and severally and any
two of us jointly bound unto our Sovereign Lady the Queen in the sum of
fifty pounds, to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made to our said
Lady the Queen, her heirs, and successors, we bind and oblige ourselves
jointly and severally, and any two of us jointly, our executors
and administrators, firmly by these presents. As witness our subcriptions
the 14th day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty eight.
The condition of the obligation is such that if the above named John Tarbert
the intended administrator of all and singular the personal
estate and effects of John Cowin late of St Charles Hopkins County Kentucky
USA but now deceased, who died on or about the 8th day of March 1887 do,
when lawfully called on in that behalf, make or cause to
be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the personal estate
and effects of the said deceased, which have or shall come into
his hands, possession, or knowledge, or into the hands of any other
person for him and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited,
into the proper Registry in that behalf whenever required by law so to
do: And the same personal estate, and effects, and all other the personal
estate and effects of the said deceased, which shall at any time come
into the hands or possession of the said John Tarbet or into the hands or
possession of any other person or persons for him or which without default
might have come into the hands or possession of the said John Tarbet do well
and truly administer according to law, that is to say, do
pay the debts and liabilities of the said deceased so far as the said
personal estate will extend and the law bind the said John Tarbet and do
deliver and pay unto the person or person legally entitled thereto all the
rest and residue of the said personal estate and effects, then this
obligation to be void and of no effects or else to remain in full force and
virtue.
