In the name of God Amen.
This is the last will and testament of us John Morrison and Catherine
Morrison of the town of Douglas which we now make jointly to prevent
disputes hereafter being both of us ill of body but sound of mind memory and
understanding to make the same.
First we commit our souls to God and our bodies to Christian burial trusting
only in Christ for salvation.
We leave and bequeath in case either of us should survive the other that the
survivor have the whole of the  property of whatsoever description
for his or her use and for the maintenance and education of the children
during his or her natural life and afterward to be divided equally
amongst the children three boys and two girls named as follows:  John
Kneale, William Watson, George Alfred, Ann Elizabeth and Catherine Jane
the whole of them to have equal shares except the household furniture which
shall be exclusively for the two girls to be divided between them equally
but it is should please God that we should both departed this life before
the youngest child should attain the age of fourteen years the other
children are not to received the shares until that period.  And in
case any of the children should depart this life before that come of
proper age to will  otherwise his or her share or shares shall be equally
divided among the remaining children as before mentioned.
We nominate constitute and appoint the survivor of either of us to be sole
executor or executrix residuary legatee and guardian to the aforesaid
children.
In case we should both die before all the children come of a proper age
we appoint and nominate as guardian to the said children Robert Crain of
Kelkenny parish of Bradden and  William Morrison of the town of Douglas
as witness our names the 16th day of December 1840.   John Morrison

At a Chapter Court holden in Douglas on the 25th day of May 1841 Catherine
Morrison having departed this life John Morrison the survivor
is sworn executor in court in form of law well and truly to execute and
fulfil the last will and testament of Catherine Morrison to pay all her
just debts and legacies so far as the effects will extend and the law
bind him and do all other acts and deeds pertaining to the office of
executor according to law and to these ends he has given pledges namely
Robert Craine of Bradden and Wm Morrison of Douglas

This is the last will and testament of me John Morrison of 9 Strathallan
Crescent in the town of Douglas.  I revoke all former wills made by me
and appoint my wife Jane Morrison executrix of this my last will.  I give
and bequeath the whole of my personal property to my said wife Jane Morrison
absolutely.  I give and devise unto my son Robert Edward
Morrison of Liverpool Artist those two houses situated and being
numbers sixty six and sixty eight in Morrison's Terrace, Finch Road,
Douglas to hold to him his heirs and assigns absolutely and for ever
chargeable nevertheless with the payment of an annual sum of ten
pounds to my said wife for the term of her natural life.  I give and devise
unto my daughter Ann Elizabeth Killip wife of James Killip of Douglas
Joiner those two houses situated and being numbers sixty two and sixty four
in Morrison Terrace aforesaid to hold to her, her heirs, and assigns
absolutely chargeable also with the payment of a clear annual sum of ten
pounds to my said wife for the term of her natural life.
In witness whereof I leave hereunto subscribed my name this twenty seventh
day of November one thousand eight hundred and eighty three 1883.

Signed published and declared by said testator as and for his last will
and testament in presence of us who at his request in his presence and in
presence of each other subscribe our names as witnesses.

The humble petition of James Killip of Melbourne Street in the town of
Douglas Joiner and Ann his wife
Sheweth that John Morrison and Catherine Morrison his wife many years ago
duly made and published their joint will and testament in writing
bearing date the 16th day of Dec 1840.
That the said Catherine Morrison having departed this life the said will
was at a Chapter Court held at Douglas on the 25th day of May 1841 proved as
the will of the said Catherine Morrison and probate was
granted to said John Morrison that the said John Morrison has lately to
wit on the 24th day of March last departed this life having made and
published another will in writing bearing date the 27 day of November
1883 of which he appointed his third present wife Jane Morrison
executrix.
That it is necessary that the said joint will which is not revoked by the
said will of the 27th day of November 1883 should be proved as the will
of the said John Morrison and that administration of the estates of the said
John Morrison and Catherine Morrison with their said will annexed should be
granted to some fit and proper person.
Wherefore petitioner prays a hearing hereof and that administration as
aforesaid be granted to some fit and proper person.

Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at Court to be held at
Douglas on Monday the 9th day of July 1888 at 11 o'clock forenoon. Whereof
all proper parties and persons are to have due and lawful notice. Given at
Douglas this 7th day of July 1888.

At a Court holden at Douglas on this 9 day of July 1888.
It appearing that John Morrison late of the town of Douglas and Catherine
his wife made and published a joint will dated the 16th day of December
1840, and that the said Catherine Morrison departed this life leaving her
said husband her surviving and that such will was proved as the last will
and testament of the said Catherine Morrison and probate thereof was granted
to the said John Morrison at a Chapter Court held in Douglas on
the 25 day of May 1841.  And that subsequently thereto the said John
Morrison duly executed another paper writing dated the 27 day of November
1883 purporting to be his last will and testament (whereof he nominated his
then wife Jane Morrison the executrix but without
referring to the said joint will and  that the said John Morrison departed
this life on the 24th day of March 1888.  This court hath decreed that the
said Joint will and the said paper writing dated the 27th day of
November 1883 constitute together the last will and testament of the
said John Morrison and the said Jane Morrison the executrix named in the
said paper writing of the 27th November 1883 having renounced the execution
of the said paper writings
This court hath granted administration of the personal estate of the said
John Morrison deceased (with his said will annexed) to John Kerruish of
the town of Douglas Lockman and accordingly he is sworn well and truly
to administer the personal estate and effects of the said John Morrison
deceased in terms of the said will and according to law.

Testamentary Jurisdiction
I Jane Morrison widow of the late John Morrison hereby renounce my
executorship under the last will and testament of the said John Morrison
late of Strathallan Crescent Douglas and am desirous that John Kerruish
of the town of Douglas lockman be appointed administrator with the will
annexed in my place and stead.
As witness my name this ninth day of July 1888.
