This is the last will and testament of me John Looney of Ramsey Builder.
I leave and bequeath to Jane Corkhill wife of Robert Corkhill of Ramsey
builder the sum of fifty pounds as legacy.
I leave and bequeath to Isabella Ann Retson wife of James Retson of Ramsey
schoolmaster the sum of fifty pounds as legacy.
I leave and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds equally amongst the
children of Jams Finney of Liverpool.
I leave and bequeath to my wife Mary Looney an annuity of one hundred pounds
per annum for and during the ---- of the natural life and the
house in Waterloos Road as which sum rents also for my said wife in life and
I leave and bequeath to my said wife the whole of my household furniture and
effects of a like description.
I give devise and bequeath the whole of the rest residue and remainder of my
real and personal estate to my son John Callow Looney absolutely and
I nominate constitute and appoint the said John Callow Looney as the
executor of this my will.
As witness my name this sixteenth day of September 1889.   John Looney
Signed by the said testator as his last will in the presence who in his
presence at his request and in presence or each other have hereunto
subscribed our names as witnesses.

At a court holden at Ramsey on the 20th day of January 1890 John
Callow Looney sworn as executor of will.  Pledges were Robert Corkill of
Ramsey Builder and William Shimmin of Ramsey Retired Draper.

Whereas John Looney late of the town of Ramsey Builder died on the
fourteenth day of December one thousand eight hundred and eighty nine having
first duly made and executed his last will and testament bearing date the
sixteenth day of September one thousand eight hundred and eighty nine
whereof he appointed his son John Callow Looney of the said town of Ramsey,
Bank Agent, sole executor and whereby he devised unto the children of James
Finney of Liverpool the sum of fifty pounds as
legacy and at a sitting of the High Court of Justice Common Law Division
(Testamentary Jurisdiction) at Ramsey on the twentieth day of January one
thousand eight hundred and ninety probate of the said will was
granted to the said John Callow Looney and whereas the following are
the children of the said James Finney namely William Finney of Number Forty
Eight, Toft Street Hold Road, Kensington, Liverpool, Restaurant Manager,
Samuel Gaul of Number eight eight Calder Street, Liverpool, Labourer, and
Alice Louisa Gaul his wife (formerly Finney) Thomas Shuttleworth of Number
43 Prince Edwin Lane, Liverpool, Carter, and
Mary Elizabeth Shuttleworth his wife (formerly Finney) and Anne Jane Finney
of Number two hundred and sixty One, High Street, Pendleton, Manchester,
spinster.   Know all men therefore by these presents that
the said William Finney Samuel Gaul, Alice Louisa Gaul, the said Thomas
Shuttleworth and Mary Elizabeth Shuttleworth do hereby own and acknowledge
to have received from William Malty Kerruish of the town
of Douglas Incorporated Accountant, Frederick Brew of the said town of
Ramsey, Bank Agent, Trustees under deed of arrangement from the said John
Callow Looney and wife the sum of ----- being the amount of the
said legacy of fifty pounds with all interest thereon to the date hereof
and the said William Finney, Samuel Gaule, Alice Louisa Gaule, Thomas
Shuttleworth and Mary Elizabeth Shuttleworth do and each of them doth hereby
direct desire and request that the said legacy may be and do stand cancelled
upon the said will and this receipt recorded along with the
same in witnesses whereof they have hereunto subscribed their names
the first day of August One thousand nine hundred and two.
