Malew 1902 No 181 The humble petition of Wm Shimmin of Ballachrink in the parish of Malew Sheweth as follows: 1. Jane Shimmin, widow, and the mother of your petitioner departed this life on the 14th day of June 1902 at Ballachrink in the parish of Malew having first duly made and published her last will and testament with a codicil thereto dated respectively the 28th day of October 1892 and the 9th day of November 1899 whereof she nominated your petitioner executor. 2. It is necessary that the said will with the codicil thereto should be proved. 3. The only next of kin of the said Jane Shimmin deceased resident on this island are two sons your petitioner and Daniel Shimmin, one daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Curphey and Evan Quaggin, Edward Quaggin, Herbert Quaggin, Casar Corlett, Herbert Callister, Esther Collister, Edward Collister and Ella Priest grandchildren Wherefore your petitioner humbly prays a hearing hereof and that your Honor may be pleased to grant probate of the said will of the said Jane Shimmin decease with the Codicil thereto to your petitioner and that your petitioner may have such other relief as is meet and he will pray. James Gill Advocate for the petitioner Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at a court to be holden at Castletown on Monday the 7th day of July 1902 at 11:30 o'clock forenoon whereof all proper parties and persons are to have due and lawful notice Given at Castletown the 1st day of July 1902. Thomas Kneen I Jane Shimmin widow of Ballachrink Malew make my will as follows: I leave my daughter Ann Jane Quaggan the sum of thirty five pounds. I leave the sum of fifteen pounds to be equally divided among the children of my daughter Margaret Corlett now deceased. I leave my daughter Elizabeth Curphey the sum of forty pounds. I leave my son Edward Shimmin the sum of thirty five pounds and the clock in my bedroom. I leave my son Thomas Shimmin the sum of fifteen pounds. I leave my son John Cæsar Shimmin the sum of fifteen pounds. I leave my son Daniel Shimmin the sum of fifteen pounds. I leave my furniture and wearing apparel except the table and chairs in the parlour equally between my daughters Ann Jane Quaggan and Elizabeth Curphey. I leave all the rest of my property and estate to my son William Shimmin and appoint him sole executor hereof. Hereby revoking all other wills made by me. Witness my name hereto subscribed this 28th October 1892. Jane Shimmin Signed and published by the testatrix as her last will in presence of us who in her presence and in presence of each other subscribed our names as witnesses hereto. Richard Radcliffe Robert Kneale This is a codicil to the purpose unto my son John Shimmin having departed this life I revoke the legacy made to him in such will and I bequeath the present to his daughter Margaret Ann Shimmin and 2 pounds to Margaret daughter of my son William Shimmin in all other respect I confirm the said will.
