I John Lewney of Old Laxey in the Parish
of Lonan being of sound mind memory &
understanding do make this my last will
and testament in manner following hereby
revoking & cancelling all wills heretofore
made by me.
First I leave devise & bequeath the whole
of my real & personal estate, subject
however to the life interest of my wife
Elizabeth Lewney therein, equally and
proportionately between my three sons
namely Wm Knowles Lewney, Wm Edward Lewney
& Thos Graham Lewney during their natural
lifetime. Should any of my said sons die
without leaving legitimate issue then the
surviving sons shall possess and enjoy
during their natural lifetime their deceased
brother’s portion. Should two of my sons die
without leaving legitimate issue then the
surviving son shall enjoy the whole of my real
& personal estate during his lifetime and
at his decease the whole of my real &
personal estate shall become the property
of his heirs-at-law, but each of my sons
leaving issue, but not otherwise, his
heir-at-law shall possess absolutely the
portion his father enjoyed at the time of
his decease.
Lastly I nominate constitute & appoint my
son Wm Knowles Lewney Executor of this my
last will & testament & have hereunto
subscribed my name this the second day of
November in the year one thousand, nine
hundred & six.
