I Isaac Cowin of Ballacowell Laxey in the parish of Lonan being of sound
mind memory and understanding do make this my last will and testament
in manner following hereby revoking and cancelling all wills heretofore
made by me.
I leave devise and bequeath to my brother Albert James Cowin the sum of one
hundred pounds.
I leave devise and bequeath to my brother Josiah Benjamin Cowin the
sum of fifty pounds.
I leave devise and bequeath to my niece Christina Quayle now residing in
Cleveland Ohio America the sum of one hundred pounds.
I leave devise and bequeath to my housekeeper Elizabeth Ellen Callow the sum
of thirty pounds and the whole of the shares held by me in the Industrial
Cooperative Society Laxey at the time of my death together
with my best silver watch and the whole of my household furniture,
beds, bedding, books, pictures, and musical instruments as her own
absolutely.
I leave devise and bequeath to my nephew William Clucas all my wearing
apparel including the remainder of my watches as I now own absolutely.
I leave devise and bequeath the sum of one hundred pounds for the following
purpose namely to pay to the house of Industry Douglas the
sum of five pounds annually toward the keep of my aforesaid Nephew William
Clucas now residing in the aforesaid House of Industry so long
as he is alive and until the one hundred pounds is exhausted in the event
of the death of my aforesaid nephew before the one hundred pounds is
exhausted the balance is to be paid to my niece Amy Clara Quayle as her own
absolutely.
I leave devise and bequeath to my hereinafter mentioned executor the
sum of five pounds.
I leave devise and bequeath the whole of the remainder of my real and
personal estate of whatsoever nature or description or wheresoever situate
or found to my niece Amy Clara Quayle now residing in Cleveland Ohio America
her heirs and assigns save and excepting that my housekeeper Elizabeth Ellen
Callow is to have the use and enjoyment of
my dwelling house garden and premises now occupied by me for the term of
three years immediately following my death but not longer.
I also hereby nominate constitute and appoint James Craine New Road Laxey
Draper sole executor of this my last will and testament and have hereunto
subscribed my name this second day of April one thousand nine hundred and
fourteen. Isaac Cowin.

At a court holden at Douglas on the 4th day of May 1914
James Craine sworn executor Whereas:
1. Isaac Cowin of Ballacowell Laxey in the parish of Lonan died on the
second day of April One thousand Nine hundred and fourteen leaving a
will bearing date the second day of April One thousand nine hundred and
fourteen whereof he appointed James Craine then of New Road Laxey aforesaid
Draper but lately of Edenvale Laxey Justice of Peace sole executor and at
court held at Douglas on the fourth day of May One thousand nine hundred and
fourteen probate of the said will was duly granted to the said James Craine.
2. The said Isaac Cowin (hereinafter called "the testator" bequeath
(inter alia) the following legacy, that is to say:
I leave devise and bequeath the sum of one hundred pounds for the following
purpose namely to pay to the House of Industry Douglas the
sum of five pounds annually toward the keep of my aforesaid nephew William
Clucas now residing in the aforesaid House of Industry so long
as he is alive and until the one hundred pounds is exhausted. In the event
of the death of my aforesaid nephew before the one hundred pounds is
exhausted the balance is to be paid to my niece Amy Clara Quayle as her own
absolutely.
3. The sum of five pounds per annum has been duly paid to the said House of
Industry for the purpose aforesaid and on the Seventeenth day of September
One thousand nine hundred and thirty seven the said William Clucas died.
4. The said legacy of one hundred pounds has now been reduced by such
payments to the sum of eleven pounds ten shilling and eight pence.
5. The said James Craine died on he twenty second day of March One thousand
nine hundred thirty six leaving a will bearing date the
fifteenth day of January One thousand nine hundred and thirty six thereby he
appointed John Walter Hampton of Woodlyn Tromode Road Douglas
Isle of Man Bank Cashier to be his executor and at court held at Douglas
on the first day of April One thousand nine hundred and thirty six probate
of the said will was duly granted to the said John Walter Hampton the
executor therein named.
6. The said John Walter Hampton died on the eight day of December one
thousand nine hundred and thirty seven leaving a will bearing the date of
the eighteenth day of April One thousand nine hundred and twenty seven and
at a court held at Douglas on the twenty first day of December one thousand
nine hundred and thirty seven probate of the said will was duly granted to
his widow Constance Adeline Hampton the executrix therein named.
7. The said Constance Adeline Hampton as executrix of the said John Walter
Hampton is by law executrix of the will of the said James Craine
and as such executrix of James Craine is executrix by law of the will of
the said Isaac Cowin.
8. The said Constance Adeline Hampton as such executrix as aforesaid hath
paid to the said Amy Clara Quayle the person beneficially entitled
to the said legacy the said sum of eleven pounds ten shillings and eight
pence and hath called upon the said Amy Clara Quayle to acknowledge receipt
thereof.
Know all men therefore by these presents that Amy Clara Quayle of 1880
Chapman Avenue East Cleveland Ohio doth hereby own and acknowledge to have
received and been paid by the said Constance Adeline Hampton as such
executrix by representation of the will of Isaac Cowin the sum of eleven
pounds ten shilling and eight pence being the amount of the legacy so
bequeathed as aforesaid and in consideration of such payment as aforesaid
the said Amy Clara Quayle doth hereby (a) order direct and desire that the
said legacy one hundred pounds shall stand cancelled upon the face of the
will of the said Isaac Cowin (b) release the said
Constance Adeline Hampton as such executrix as aforesaid and the
estate and effects of the said John Walter Hampton James Craine and Isaac
Cowin from all proceedings costs claims and demands whatsoever
in relation to the said legacy bequeathed as foresaid Amy Clara Quayle hath
hereunto subscribed her name this 22nd day of August one thousand nine
hundred and thirty eight.
In witness whereof the said Amy Clara Quayle hath hereunto subscribed her
name this 22nd day of August one thousand nine hundred and thirty eight.

Josiah Benjamin Cowin of Oakland California received from James Craine fifty
pounds on the second day of February 1914.
Christiana Quayle received 100 pounds 18 Dec 1914.
Elizabeth Ellen Callow received £30 and etc 28 Nov 1914.
James Craine rec'd 5 pounds the 27th Nov 1914.
Amy C. Quayle received her legacy 26 Jun 1916.
Albert James Cowin died in lifetime of Isaac Cowin
Certificate of his death from chronic Interstitial Nephritis died 27 May
1912 State of Montana File No. 59 74 Register No. 110 Died at 2: 15 PM Made
at County Hospital, County of Lewis and Clark,
Date of Birth 8 Mar 1857 age 55 - 2 months 19 days at his death. He was a
Miner. Signed Max W. Barbour M.D. Helena Montana buried at County Cemetery
by Wm Holbrook on 29 May 1912.
