This is the last will and testament of me
Thomas Cretney of Colooneys in the parish of Braddan I revoke all prior
will or wills.
I appoint my son William Arthur Cretney and my daughter Esther Cretney
executors and trustees hereof.
I give, devise and bequeath all real and personal estate to my trustees
the said William Arthur Cretney and Esther Cretney to hold to them and the
survivor of them and the heirs executors and administrators of the survivor
in trust so long as my wife Esther Cretney decides to carry on the farm now
occupied ----------- liberty to employ all my estate in
so doing and to manage and conduct the same as they think proper and out of
profits there from and out of the collateral of my estate if there
be no such profits to keep and maintain my trustees and my said wife in
a proper and suitable manner but if any one of the them persons above named
does not agree he conveying in such favor then I direct all my real and
personal estate shall be converted unto cash and the proceeds paid to my
trustees who shall invest the same in the security of real estate in
the Isle of Man or in such investment as trustees are by law authorized
to invest with moneys the income arising there from shall be paid to my wife
during her life Notwithstanding deficiency here in before contained if
the income shall not be sufficient to maintain my wife in a proven
manner my trustees shall allay such portions of the collateral as they
may think necessary for that purpose and the decease of my wife my trustees
shall pay to my grandson Thomas Arthur Cretney a sum of twenty pounds which
I give and bequeath to him as a legacy subject to
the foregoing interest of my wife therein and the legacy off twenty
pounds.
I give and bequeath the whole of my estate (less my deductions for the
maintenance of my wife but including any profits from carrying of the
farm) To my said two children William Arthur Cretney and Esther
Cretney equally between them absolutely for their own use and benefit
the share of my daughter to be for her sole and separate use from
the shares of my daughter to be for her sole and separate use free from
marital control. I direct that the benefits paid to my wife are in
substitution of land not in addition to any interest in my estate to which
she would be entitled as my widow.
