To His Honour Stewart Stevenson Moore Esquire, His Majesty’s 
First Deemster and a Judge of the said Division.

The humble petition of William Ernest Teschemaker of Ringmore (?), 
Teignmouth, Devonshire, Gentleman.

Sheweth:-

1. John Caesar Bacon late of Seafield in the Parish of Santon esquire 
   your petitioner’s late cousin departed this life upon the 11th Day of 
   May 1916 at Seafield aforesaid leaving a will bearing date the first 
   day of May 1916 whereof be appointed your petitioner executor.
2. Your petitioner is desirous of obtaining probate of the said will.

Wherefore your petitioner humbly prays a hearing thereof and that 
your Honour may be pleased to grant probate of the said will of the 
said John Caesar Bacon to your petitioner with such other and 
further relief as is meet and your petitioner will ever pray etc etc etc

Ordered  that this petition do come on to be heard at a court to be holden at CASTLETOWN 
on MONDAY the 5TH day of JUNE, 1916 at 12:30 ‘o’clock, in the forenoon, whereof all 
proper parties and persons to have due notice, given this 2ND day of JUNE 1916

This is the last will and testament of me John Caesar Bacon of 
Seafield in the Parish of Santon. I hereby revoke all former wills, 
codicils and other testamentary dispositions at anytime heretofore 
made by me and declare this only to be my last will and testament. 
I nominate, constitute and appoint my cousin William Ernest 
Teschemaker of Teignmouth Devonshire sole executor of this my 
will. I leave and device all my real estate in the parish of Santon to 
the said William Ernest Teschemaker for and during the term of his 
natural life, and upon death of the said William Ernest 
Teachemaker I leave and device all my said real estate in the parish 
of Santon to Isabel Jane Kinvig adopted daughter of Benjamin Kinvig 
of Clycur (?) in the parish of Malew for her sole and 
separate use and benefit free from the control and engagements of 
any husband with whom she may intermarry. I leave and device all 
my real estate subject as hereinafter mentioned in the parish of 
Lezayre and Ballaugh to the said William Ernest Teschemaker 
upon trust to apply the income thereof for the benefit of Joan 
Christine Violet Wilcox adopted daughter of Mrs Elizabeth Wilcox 
of Chelston Road, Newton Abbot, Devonshire until the said Joan 
Christina Violet Wilcox attains the age of twenty one years or 
marries before that age and upon the said Joan Christina Violet 
Wilcox attaining the age of twenty one years or marrying, 
whichever event shall first happen upon further trust to convey the 
same to the said Joan Christine Violet Wilcox absolutely for her own 
separate use and benefit and free from the control and 
engagements of any husband with whom she may intermarry I 
leave and devise all my real estate in the borough of  Douglas, and 
all my real estate in the parish of Onchan to the said Isabella Jane 
Kinvig as absolutely and for her own sole and separate use and 
benefit and free from the control and engagements of any husband 
with whom she may intermarry.
I leave and bequeath to my coachman John Steel the sum of one 
hundred pounds. I leave and bequeath to my cowman William 
Corlett the sum of fifty pounds. I leave and bequeath to William 
Craigs, my first horseman the sum of twelve pounds. I leave and 
bequeath to William Kneale my second horseman the some of ten 
pounds, if he is in my employment at the time of my decease. I 
leave and bequeath to my gardener William Edwin Clague the sum 
of five pounds, if he is in my employment at the time of my 
decease. I leave and bequeath to Cecil Leece the sum of one pound, 
if he is in my employment at the time of my decease. I leave and 
bequeath to my friend Richard Jones Kean (?) of Santon the sum of 
fifty pounds. I leave and bequeath to Thomas Shimmin (?) who at 
present lives at Seafield the sum of forty pounds. I leave 
and bequeath to my steward and agent John Corlett of Clenagh, Sulby 
Glen Hotel the sum of thirty pounds. I direct that my executor shall 
have the power to retain in his hands out of my estate, a sufficient 
sum of money to enable him to continue the payment of five 
shillings a week towards the maintenance of Vincent 
Kinrade, son of Elizabeth Jane Kinrade of Kewley until the said Vincent 
Kinrade attains the age of sixteen years such payment of the said 
sum of five shillings a week to be paid or withheld in the 
uncontrolled discretion of my executor. I leave and bequeath my 
late mother’s jewellery to my cousin Constance Isabel 
Teschemaker. I leave and bequeath to Henry Hale McDougal 
Rawson our Grandfather’s sword, the Luck Cup, and the old 
carved oak table in the drawing room. I leave and bequeath all the 
rest of my household furniture and other effects in the Seafield 
house to the said William Ernest Teschemaker. I direct my 
executor to provide a suit of mourning for my two maid servants. I 
desire to be buried in our family grave at Onchan and my executor 
is to have the custody of the key of the vault.
If my personal estate upon realisation is found to be insufficient to 
pay my debts and the said beneficiaries in this my will in full, then 
the deficiency if any is to be paid by the said Joan Christina Violet 
Wilcox and is to be a lieu and charge upon my real estate in the 
parishes of Lezayre and Ballaugh until paid.. I leave devise and 
bequeath all the real residue and remainder of my property of every 
kind and description to my coachman John Steel and I appoint the 
said John Steel my residual legatee and devisee. In witness whereof 
I have herewith subscribed my name, this first day of May 1916.
