Welcome to sci.math, an unmoderated free-for-all.

The sci.math Charter |
 |
Gauss said that mathematics is the Queen of the Sciences.
What he didn't tell us is that she is also the Madame of the House of Crankery.
Sci.math is for connoisseurs of both categories. Look where you will,
no other outfit can match sci.math's blend of high science and low comedy.
Our large group includes keen amateurs,
earnest students, slackers too, mildly famous professors,
world famous cranks, heavyweight trolls, counter-cranks,
counter-counter-cranks, hallucinators,
and a few miscellaneous others who are attracted by the noise.
If your contribution [guffaw] is polite and carefully considered,
it can burnish your reputation [LOL] as a professional or
amateur mathematician. But such contributions are a minority
on Usenet, which is the cheap end of the market, to be sure.
Most of our material is of these other kinds:
1. Proofs and disproofs of the Riemann hypothesis, Goldbach conjecture,
and other glamorous open questions.
2. Hooting and jeering at the above proofs and disproofs.
3. Futile disquistions on all the old hobgoblins: lottery systems, division by zero,
Cantor's diagonal trick, etc.
Such stuff gets regurgitated daily in this room.
4. Trying over and over to make others see the same hallucinations as you do.
5. Pornographic ASCII art. (In consideration of our
international audience, such contributions should be limited
to 7-bit ASCII.)
Enjoy your stay, and thank you for choosing sci.math.
