Dr.
Archibald MacSween Stalker

Dr. Archie MacS. Stalker
Dr. Archie Stalker was a research scientist with the
Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) from 1945 until his retirement in 1987. In
his years with GSC, he mapped the glacial and post-glacial sediments of vast
areas of southern Alberta. He investigated the stratigraphy, chronology and
sedimentology of them along with the fossil remains of ice age megafauna that are
interstratified with the glacial sediments. He mentored the next generation of
Quaternary scientists. His mapping of the Foothills
erratics train was key to reconstructing the events of the last ice age in
southern Alberta.
Dr. Stalker lives in Ottawa, Ontario and maintains an active
interest in the ice age history of the Interior Plains. He celebrates his 80th Birthday on
June 26, 2004. Quaternary scientists across Canada wish him a happy birthday.
