recovered fuselage and contents Coastal Geoscience was called in after the original search efforts by the Canadian Navy, RCMP, and many volunteers were called off. Initial evidence and witness reports suggested a wreck site north of Heriot Bay near "the Bretons" shoal. Large areas of deeper waters near here were scanned by the Navy and thus eliminated.  Shallow waters not scanned by the Navy were searched by CGRC with sidescan sonar and towed video.  However, after these sites were checked and rechecked new locations had to be considered.
Pontoons aboard search vessel The new search area was much further south, near Rebecca Spit. Glen Dennis a local geoduck diver offered his boat and several runs later the images of the plane were discovered. It was to be a few weeks before an ROV could be brought to the site for positive ID and eventual recovery.
