Welcome to the LOWER ISLAND EQUESTRIAN CLUB website. This site has been developed to offer you current club news, policies, forms and other information to help you participate in club events. WHAT'S NEW
There will be a mailout to all members in February containing new rule changes, a Percentage Day Entry form, pertinent show information and a complete show schedule. In the interim, please be reminded that memberships for 2008 are now due - the form can be downloaded from this site and sent directly to Adriana Sisco, Membership Chair. Memberships must be received 45 days before the competition in order to be considered a member in good standing. Please do not mail a membership form with a Show Entry Form - you will not receive membership status for that show. There will also be a $15 surcharge for NSF cheques.
SHOWSWe will have 6 shows this year - 7 competition days in total. With the exception of the June show which will be held at the Saanich Fairground, all of the shows will be held at EBLES. Here is the outline of the show dates for your calendar:
- Sunday April 13th - Percentage Day
- Saturday May 10th - Bronze Level Show
- Saturday June 7th/Sunday June 8 - Schooling Show
- Sunday July 6th - Percentage Day
- Sunday August 17th - Bronze Level Show
- Saturday September 20th - Percentage Day

Planning is underway for the June 2 day show which is always a very special show. There are beautiful rosettes, perpetual trophies with silver cups for keepers in 6 categories, wonderful prizes, a full concession, a Silent Auction and volunteer prizes. This show deserves a name! Have you got any ideas?? For example, VSC has named their July show the "Capital City Classic" fondly known as the CCC and there is a large show on the mainland each year simply named "Amherst". We are welcoming any suggestions from all our membership for a name for the June show. Prize? Of course there is - 2 free tests valued at $32 if winner is a competitor or the cash equivalent if the winner is a non-rider. Please send any suggestions for a name for this very special LIEC event to your Vice - President Linda Edgell (652 9383 or ledgell@shaw.ca). The winning submission will be selected by the Board of Directors at the next meeting on March 10th. Contest closes on March 1st.
