Nick Owen’s book, the Magic of Metaphor (Crown House Publishing, 2001) motivates the reader to reflect on principles, morals and life experience in general.  The book consists of 77 fascinating stories aimed at teachers, trainers and thinkers. The stories come from both the Eastern and Western worlds and act as springboards for a number of activities that can be used in education.  The author also offers some interesting story-telling techniques, which can encourage discussion and positive attitudes among the participants.  This book will always be close at hand to use in my teaching and teacher training, as the variety of the stories is immense and can be adapted to many situations.
