What is "Karen's Linguistics Issues"?

 

Set up in April 2001 by Karen Bond, Karen's Linguistics Issues is a collection of articles, cartoons, dictionaries, links and other resources on Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching (ELT).  

Karen has been an EFL/ESL teacher since 1990, and has taught in Hungary, Brazil and Canada.  She has a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL, and has had many articles published in newspapers, magazines and online journals:

We welcome articles on the research and practice of Applied Linguistics and ELT, under the following categories:

 
  • CALL
  • Language Description & Analysis
  • Lexis
  • Phonetics & Phonology
  • Practical Ideas
  • Professional Development
  • Second Language Acquisition
  • Sociolinguistics
  • Syllabus Design
  • Testing

Further categories may be added where appropriate.  

All submissions should:

 
  • be in English (examples in another language are acceptable).
  • be of any length, but preferably more than one page.
  • be well-referenced.
  • contain a brief biography of the author.  A photo of the author may also be submitted.
  • be sent as a Word document, or as part of an email.
