Inexcusable Romans 1:18-32 In these passages Paul begins to share with people the historical account of the disobedience (unbelief) of some of the people during the times of Moses. Paul gives a pretty good description of what happened, what the people did, and why God gave them over to a reprobate mind. In verses 29 through 32 Paul shares with the hearers at Rome some of the things that the people of Moses' days were committing. Now, the average religious person has memorized Romans chapter one for the purpose of only finding one thing..."God's Coming Judgment and Condemnation upon those who are practicing immoral sexual acts". A week doesn't go by when I don't hear a preacher or a person using Romans chapter for the purpose of pointing out the judgment for those who are practicing homosexuality or some other sex act. But take a good look at the other things that Paul lists in verses 29 through 32. How many of these other things are committed on a daily basis by those of us who call ourselves "Christians?" Do "Christians" envy, been known to murder, debate, deceive (lie), gossip (backbiters-whisperers), hate, despise, proud, boast, and been (are) disobedient to parents? Doesn't verse 32 put all these under the same judgment of immoral sexual acts? But lets see what it was that Paul was really trying to get at in these verses and lets see who it was that he was addressing and the purpose behind the historical account that he was giving. I just wish that more people would listen more carefully to what its being preached from the pulpit when it comes to chapters like Romans 1 and others like it. Our so called prominent television evangelists, radio preachers and street corner apostles often use Romans chapter one for the purpose of putting certain groups of people under judgment, and condemnation for what they believe to be sexual immorality. But God forbid that one of their own or they themselves get caught in some immoral act or financial hanky panky, and see how fast they move to ask the Christian Community and the world to forgive them. But the fact is that Paul lists much more in his letter to the Romans than what we have been led to believe and believed ourselves. So lets unveil the religious self-righteous lies of the pulpit and see if we can put the whole thing in its proper context. The first thing we need to remember is that simply because an old testament historical account appears in the New Testament, it doesn't mean that it is addressing the New Testament Church Body. Otherwise it would be contradictory to the simple message of salvation by grace through faith apart from the works of the law. So what is the answer and where is the answer to Romans Chapter 1:18 thru 32? Lets see who it was that Paul was addressing and for what purpose. Lets continue on to the second chapter starting at verse one, and see what it says..."Therefore, thou art INEXCUSABLE, O man, whosoever thou art that JUDGEST; for wherein thou JUDGEST another, thou condemnest thyself, for thou that JUDGEST does the same things". The "Who" that Paul was addressing were none others than Jews that were trying to justify themselves through their own religious self-righteousness of the law while passing condemnation upon others. Romans 2:17. The purpose of Paul's historical account was to simply remind those who were judging the sinful actions of the people of Moses' days, that they too were doing no different. That they were just as hypocritical, guilty and worthy of the same judgment. That by judging others they were also found to be condemning themselves since what they judged others for they themselves were practicing. Now, are we seeing history repeating itself? Isn't this type of religious self-righteous attitude been going on ever since so-called "Christianity" has been around? Do you now see how so called modern day "Christianity" have twisted God's word and been preaching us something completely out of context, not to mention another gospel? Galatians 1. Do you now see why I don't want to be part of the "Fault-Finders" religious car pool? Do you now see why we weren't called to be "Fruit Inspectors" and "Judges?" Who in their right mind wants to be reminded that we too are "INEXCUSABLE" for judging others when we ourselves don't have it all together? Who wants to enter heaven with a two by four in their eye by trying to remove the speck in another person's eye? Look at how Romans chapter one has been taken out of context for so many years and look at the injustice, the hatred, the prejudice that has caused so much pain to others and also to ourselves. Where is the same Grace, the love, the compassion and forgiveness that was extended to us by God, that we should be extending to others? I have three beautiful grandchildren, and I encourage my own children not to allow those kids to grow up in a world of bias religious self-righteousness and judmentalism. Friends, if we take it out of context we turn it into non-sense and our continuous judgment of others will only lead us to condemn ourselves. I think its time that we start allowing the Holy Spirit to teach us these truths of God's grace, instead of allowing other people to do the teaching and thinking for us. For organized "Religious Christianity" have deceived us for too long and we are "INEXCUSABLE" if we continue to sit in judgment against those that Jesus died on the cross for and are now partakers of His Grace. Aren't you glad that everything that every wicked act that Paul listed in Romans Chapter One has been covered by the blood? The point of it all is that Paul is lovingly correcting us and that God doesn't want us to sit in "Moses Seat', but to understand that we are all now sitting with Christ in heavenly places. This servant that shares with you the above is not an outside observant nor critic. I have been an inside participator of these things and not only a victim, but also a contributor when it comes to finding fault and judging others. Now, this all may seem contradictory of me, because some believe that what I am doing in exposing religious error is no different than judging others. I believe that there is a great gulf between passing judgment and pointing out other people's faults, compared to that of constructive correction. Thank God that each and everyday I grow more and more in Grace and working off some of those rough spots in my own personal life. I also thank God that He is no longer dealing with me according to my rough spots or my soft spots, but that by His Grace He has made us all a perfect cut and finished diamond. Thank You Jesus!
