Religious Chat Groups

These last few days I decided to check out some of these AOL and other religious chat groups, and they remind me of the mass traffic madness of New York City. Like the apostle Paul said in Corinthians...everyone has a doctrine, a tongue, a message, a prophecy, an opinion, a vision and what have you. It is pure religious legalistic madness. It is mass confusion at its best. I made an attempt to contribute some common sense thoughts to the confusion, and all of a sudden someone pops up and says: "Where are we going to have our bible study cookies and milk bible study?"

People from all denominational backgrounds were talking and jumping from one quick question, comment and subject to another. It felt like a chicken coop atmosphere, or better yet...a turkey ranch. "Gobble, gobble, gobble, corn." The conversation were mostly about everyone defending their religious potted ground, and arguing about who is right and who is wrong. Why redemption is not for all, and how the sheep will go to heaven and the goats to hell. I did come across one large group in AOL that had one guy as a thorn to many in the group.

He called himself 'satan's disciple.' Whoever this guy was, he was either having fun or just getting under the skin of the religious people in the group. But for the most part he was being ignored by many participating believers. I managed to put in my two cents in and told 'satan's disciple'... "I don't know if you are for real, but if you do get a chance check me out at www.gogm.tk and see if you like what you read." Because of the heavy traffic I don't think he saw my invitation. However, did leave my website address on many of these chat groups.

It is hard to get to first base on many of these religious chat groups. You just can't get a word in, and if you do, someone comes along totally breaking in with things like "Hey Bonnie, did you like the retreat last week?" Then someone else comes up with something like "Hey Michael, what you think about what the pastor said last week on the beast of Revelation?" Friends, these groups are wide open religious forums that allows everyone to talk about anything under the sun and the moon. Believe you me, they aren't worth it. If you want to keep your sanity and your peace of heart, don't bother with any of these groups.

You are better off going to a chat groups that concentrates only on one specific topic, and I did find one. It was called "Demonology." All they talk about is satan and demons. What better place to share the Gospel of God's Grace and tell these dear people how Jesus fulfilled the law, the prophets, the psalms and conquered the devil and all his forces, and how God has forgiven them all of sin and how they are now free and have access into the throne of God's grace, and God loves them forever. Oh well! Que sera, sera.

Grace N Peace
