Morality - Grace = Rebellion

If there be one thing that many religious people are concerned with when it comes to my articles, preaching and website, is the issue of morality. "Brother! -- you seem to be preaching and presenting an immoral doctrine. It's bad enough that many of our teens and young adults in this world that we live in are in total rebellion, and turning away from God, their parents, our constitutional laws and good moral principles. Don't you ever watch the news? Read USA for Today? This modern society that we live in is going to the dogs. It is worse than Sodom and Gomorra."

"Just look at the latest homosexual uprising. George Washington is probably tossing in his grave as the earth trembles with the possibility that someday this entire nation, that was founded on righteousness and godly principles is now being threatened with the outrageous devilish idea of same sex marriages. Eddie, you and other Christian liberals like you are only adding to the problem with your so called message of Grace. I don't see where you are helping anyone to turn away from the sinful error of their ways. If anything, you are approving of their unbecoming behavior and being a partaker of their sins."

According to many of these dear people who falsely accuse me of preaching some of these things, and more, of what I just briefly mentioned above, I am handing out licenses for people to go out and sin. As if people don't already sin without a license. Friends, I am totally convinced that one of the major reasons why many of these teens and young adults of our so called modern generation are living so wild and acting so crazy, is simply because they are fed up and tired of religious condemnation being forced down their throats. When we have a religious church system and government attempting to legislate morality, we will have opposition and resistance.

I believe that many people are beginning to see the strong influence that religious groups have upon our government officials and the threatening demands that are placed upon some of these elected officials by some of these religious organizations that want to control people according to their religious beliefs. If things seem to be getting out of control and it looks as if the entire world is headed for chaos, well lets not overlook many of the other factors that have been contributing to the problem. Things such as lack of employment. The fact that many teens and young adults are worried about the high cost of education.

The fact that our government leaders continue to use young men and women in the military to police the rest of the world, and put them in harms-way for the sake of world power. Many of the teens and young adults of this generation feel that they are living in a world of uncertainty and they are fed up with the constant idea of being judged for their bad behavior and actions. As I have spoken to many of these teens and young adults, what they are looking for is not more condemnation and judgment. They are looking for acceptance, solutions to their future concerns and for someone to listen to them about what concerns them most.

Some of them have even said: "We have become numb to religious condemnation. We no longer care if God sends us to hell and burns us with fire and brimstone. We feel that God hates us so much already that is no use in trying anymore. So we look for acceptance and approval in other places. We just turn to drugs, alcohol, prostitution, murder, violence, stealing, cheating, robbing and all sorts of immoral acts simply because we don't see any future nor hope. We find that religion doesn't offers us any hope. And if some of us do find religion, it normally doesn't last. Simply because religion, although helpful for a while, are always putting us under surveillance."

"At first they lure you in with all sorts of promises and tell you how God loves you and wants to help you, but the moment we do something wrong, God becomes angry and is about to put the belt to our bottom for disobeying Him. Is bad enough that society keeps short changing us. Many of us finish High School, and go seeking part time jobs to make enough money to enroll in College. Then when we do enroll in College but can't keep up with the ever increasing costs of education, we drop out, go back to living with our parents and when our parents begin to put more pressure, we just leave and end up making a fast buck in the streets by doing all sorts of ugly things."

Friends, I don't doubt that religion has helped many people in many ways. But if religion and Evangelical Christianity have been so instrumental in their attempt in reaching the masses with their gospel, then why are there more people, teens and young adults turning from, instead of to Christianity and religion? A conducted survey a few years ago said that there were as many teens and young adults dropping out of religion as there were embracing it. It looks to me that the gospel that religion and Evangelical's have been preaching has not been working.

For if it were, there wouldn't be enough churches to hold the masses. So to put the blame on men like me for preaching what many teens, young adults and old time attending church people are beginning to respond to, the Gospel of God's Grace, and to say that I am contributing to an old already existing problem with our young generation, is not only an excuse but a cop-out. So if the finger and the blame is going to be pointed at anyone, I think religion and the Evangelical Church need to look in the mirror and honestly asked themselves: "It is clearly obvious that are message of Morality hasn't been working, so why not go with the Gospel Message of Grace?"

Friends, I am all for morality. But as long as Evangelical Religion continues to use the hammer and nail of the law to promote morality in the minds of our young adult generation, they will never come to a knowledge of God's unconditional love and grace. Forced Morality Minus Grace Equals Rebellion.

Grace N Peace
