Indwelling Life
"And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all."
-- Paul, 1 Corinthians 15:28

Psssssst... I have a secret for you!

God lives inside of you.

"What kind of a secret is that?" you ask. "I know that already. I've been taught that before". And probably, you have heard it before. But have you ever stopped to consider it?

God. The Almighty. The Alpha. The Omega. The Beginning. The End. All that Is, and Was, and Is To Be. He is living, right how, inside of you.

You cannot move without God moving with you. You cannot go anywhere that God does not come with you. In fact, your oneness of God is so complete, so total, that He not only lives in you, but you live in Him.

“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.”

Acts 17:28 (KJV)

When He moves, you move. When He lives, you live. When He exists, you exist. So long as He continues to move, to live, to exist, so will you. Now there is an awesome thought. As long as God continues to be in existance, so will you. As long as God continues to live, so do you. Why? Because God lives in you, and you in Him. Because you and God are one in Body, and in Spirit, and in every other way possible.

Now, Jesus, of course, claimed to be one with God. We accept that. But what we fail to realize is what that means for us.

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Galatians 2:20 (KJV)

Christ's life is what makes you live. It's what makes you tick. And if Christ, who was God, in the flesh, now dwells within and is one with you, what does that say about you? You, too, are one with God. And what's more, you can't not be a part of God. You can't not be part of His being. God really is all in all. (1 Corinthians 15:28)

“He is before all things and by Him all things consist.”

Colossians 1:17

There is nothing on this Earth that is not God. The grass you walk on. He is the "all" in and of the grass. The water you drink. He is the "all" in and of the water. The cars you drive. The air you breathe. The people you meet. God is all in all. He is even the "all" in and of "all". You cannot look at anything or anyone that is not part of the all that God is. You cannot escape Him, any more than you can escape yourself. David explained it so beautifully, when he wrote

“Thou hast beset me before and behind, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.”

Psalm 139:5-8

We can't escape from God. We can't run away from Him. Where could you go that He is not, when He is all in all? We can't even "escape" God in hell. Wow. We cannot be separated from Him, because that would be to say that there is someplace we can go that He is not. But that's not possible; the very idea defies the nature of God.

It brings a new meaning to the idea of omnipresence, doesn't it? Take your next breath, and as you do so, realize that you are breathing in "God". And so God travels through your mouth, which is also entirely God, through the windpipe (also God) to your lungs (God, too). The oxygen is then passed into your veins, into your blood stream. God is quite literally in your blood. Not only that, but God IS your blood. God is all in all.

That's what it means when Paul writes that we died. We died when Christ died, we were crucified when He was nailed to the cross. But a miraculous thing has happened. You might be dead, but you're still alive! Just as Jesus lived as a result of the life of God, so too do you.

“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”

Colossians 3:3

Our lives are hid within Christ. And Christ lives within. It is a truly awesome thing to realize that God dwells within you, and you in Him. We move, we live, we exist, we have our being simply by the life given by the faith of the Son of God, who loved us, and gave Himself for us. He gave Himself for the entire world, and He truly is All in All. Including all that makes you who you are.

You are one with God, which means that everything He is, you are too. That means that in you, there is no sin. You are love -- and you are love. You are good. You are holy. You are righteous. Do a study on all the things that God is. You are those things, too. He is The Great I AM. And you are a part of all that HE IS.
