Turbo 2.3L Engine

The engine is the factory 2.3 litre (140 cid) 4 cyl. that Ford originally installed back in 1978 (with a few modifications):

Doesn't say "Fuel Injection" anymore!

I decided to go with blow-through carb arrangement for several reasons:

  1. I don't know a thing about EFI!
  2. I don't know how to "trick" a computer with every mod I make.
  3. I wanted to build the car with a late 60's to '70's "feel" and appearance.
  4. I'm building it on a very tight budget.
  5. And most importantly I like the challenge, swapping in an SVO or Turbo Coupe engine and controls would have been to easy (or would it?).

The engine, like the rest of the car, is "in the works" and hasn't even been turned over yet since the turbo install. Fingers crossed that I have it set up right. I've recently completed doing some porting and polishing on the head and manifolds. Everything except the final wiring is completed. I will be installing an Autometer air-fuel ratio (AFR) gauge and my multi-channel temp monitor prior to starting to help set-up the carb and ensure I don't blow anything up!

Other drivetrain upgrades include a modified V8 radiator and electric fan (see details in "body" section), new clutch and pressure plate, and a Ford Motorsports adjustable cam sprocket. Plans also include all new wiring harness and possibly upgraded ignition system (a modified Duraspark II box that "should" retard ignition when boost reaches a set PSI.
