One part I was really worried about duplicating was the latches used to hold down the flip-front. Naturally original Dayton Coupe ones are unavailable so another source had to be found. Through discussions with a guy who built a Daytona replica, I learned suitable pieces could be found on early Triumph Spitfires (thanks for the tip Bruce!). Another Ebay auction and I had a set!

This is my first mock-up of where the latches will go. The next step is to design and build the catches and the inner fender that they mount to. Once that is completed I can bond the rear portions of the fenders to the car. |
