Bonnet Latches:

One part I was really worried about duplicating was the latches used to hold down the flip-front. Naturally original Dayton Coupe ones are unavailable so another source had to be found. Through discussions with a guy who built a Daytona replica, I learned suitable pieces could be found on early Triumph Spitfires (thanks for the tip Bruce!). Another Ebay auction and I had a set!

Here's the latches:

The "M" stands for Michelotti as in Giovanni Michelotti, who designed several of the Triumphs. He also designed for Maserati, BMW, Ferrari and others. His biography is here.

This is my first mock-up of where the latches will go. The next step is to design and build the catches and the inner fender that they mount to. Once that is completed I can bond the rear portions of the fenders to the car.
