A welcome sign on the road into Bamfield. Marie's B&B is a lovely two storey house on top of the hill leading into Bamfield. The centre of town and the boat docks are within close walking distance.

From the house there are views of the inlet, the mountains, and the old-growth cedar forests. The garden has a West Coast nautical theme, incorporating native plants and maritime ornaments.

Marie believes in old-fashioned hospitality, and many of her guests come back time and again.  The accommodations are best suited for adults.

Your Hostess

Marie is a long-time resident of Bamfield. She has a strong interest in Native (First Nations) art, and is an artist herself. Her pen and ink drawings of West Coast scenes are featured in local galleries and businesses. Marie is heavily involved in community events and is famous in Bamfield for her hospitality. Tell anyone in town that you are going to be staying at Marie's and they will assure you that you will be well-fed!

Bamfield - A Diamond in the Rough

  • Natural Beauty: Bamfield is nestled at the edge of the Pacific Ocean and is surrounded by a old-growth rainforest. The spacious beaches are beautiful and uncrowded. You can see kingfishers, cranes, and maybe even a brown bear. Bald eagles nest here too.
  • Sports: Bamfield is the perfect place for athletes to commune with nature. Not only is Bamfield the terminus of the famous West Coast Hiking Trail (Pacific Rim National Park), but there is also kayaking, canoeing, swimming, mountain biking, and (of course) salmon fishing.
  • Industry: Bamfield is a working fishing village. It is served by the passenger ferry, the MV Lady Rose. We are proud of our Coast Guard Station and Red Cross Outpost Hospital.
  • Culture: Bamfield is located next to the Huu-ay-aht (Ohiat) First Nations settlement at Pachena Bay. These twin communities share a vibrant artisan scene.
  • Education: The Bamfield Marine Biological Station is home to researchers from five universities in Western Canada and the USA. It welcomes visitors.
