Tammera's There But Fortune.....

"Jessie"
Am.Ch. Seacliff's Special Effects x Tammera's Sable Magic
Jessie came to me at four years of age, bred to Ch. Bach Razor's Edge and ready to take over our lives here at Marpointe. Jessie left us today to join her grandson "Luke" at the bridge and it leaves me with such a hole in my heart.
Jessie has always been our good will ambassador here in our home. She was always the first at the door to greet visitors, both young and old, but especially the children. She absolutely loved children and had always been gentle with the young ones. Children who were fearful of dogs in the beginning, came to relax in Jessie's presence and before too long they were interacting without fear. Jessie was so long-suffering with my grandchildren from the word go...especially my granddaughter, Kaitlyn, who inherited her grandmother's love of dogs. Kaitlyn is just six years old and I had to break it to her today that her best friend "passed away". How innocent her questions, but how wise her discernment of such a sad occasion. She amazes me at times.
Jessie loved food as do all shelties...but with her it was with the adventure of a connoisseur, nothing was taboo with Jessie. Fruit and vegetables of any kind were consumed with equal relish and of course, we could set our clocks with Jessie's inner knowledge that it is meal time! She will get up to stare intently at our faces until we have to acknowledge her with the question, "Is it supper time?" to which she will dance with exuberance until it is set before her. At the end, it was Jessie's poor lack of appetite that clued us in that things were not as they should be. Much as we tried to push "that day" back, it was finally time for us to say goodbye.
I will be forever grateful that I had the opportunity to be the companion of such a sweet and loving dog as Jessie. Her absence is keenly felt in the house tonight.
However, Jessie's legacy lives on here at Marpointe. As you scroll down, you will see that she is the foundation of many lovely dogs here at Marpointe as well as elsewhere at Sunnygate, Conspirito, and Coastalview Shelties.
Jessie was never shown here in Canada, but what her bloodlines have given us in terms of conformation has proven itself time and again. This is Jessie's gift to us.
As mentioned before, Jessie came to us
bred to Ch. Bach Razor's Edge. From that breeding came "Mercy" -
Marpointe's Mercedes,
pt'd -
who caught
the heart of a good friend, Beverley Guthrie, of Sunnygate Shelties when Mercy
was just a youngster. Beverley took her home on a co-ownership and when
the time was right, Mercy was bred to "Luke" - Ch. Marpointe's Cool Hand Luke.
The first breeding to Luke produced "Penny" -
Ch. Sunnygate Skookum
O'Marpointe -
who came to live with us here at Marpointe as our pick puppy back from that
breeding. Penny went on a co-ownership with Joanne Howe of Conspirito
Shelties. We bred her to get
"Noah" - Ch. Marpointe's The
Believer
,
"Jack" -
Ch. Conspirito Highest Card Deals
and finally
"Duncan" - Marpointe
Highland Blackhawk
Duncan was pointed to 9 points when the opportunity to place him in a forever home came up and it was such a good home it was too hard for us to give up for him while waiting for him to coat up to finish, so before we let him go, we bred him to "Kira", and he sired two lovely great-grandkids of Jessie's who live here with us...

Ch. Marpointe's Black Suede and his sister, Ch. Marpointe's Antebellum
We loved that first breeding of Mercy and Luke so well that we repeated it and that resulted in "Remi" -
Ch. Sunnygate Reminis
O'Marpointe
who
came to us as second pick of the second litter at Sunnygate. Remi was bred to "Soul" -
Am.Can.Jpn.Grand Ch. Barkley's SS Pure Soul which resulted in "Merlin" -
Ch. Marpointe's Paparrazi,
ADC,AADC, MADC,SGDC,AGDC
. Remi then
went on to a co-ownership with Judy Tulloch of Coastal View Shelties and was
bred again to Soul which resulted in "Brie" -
BIS Ch. Marpointe's Simply
Delicious
who
came back to live with us at Marpointe as our pick puppy back from that
co-ownership, Brie was shown almost exclusively by me to her championship with
Rod Oishi's help a couple of days for a Group Fourth and a Group Third.
The following weekend, owner handled by me...Brie picked up a GROUP FIRST and
BEST IN SHOW under breeder judge Guy Jeavons. Shortly afterwards, I
offered Brie back to Judy. Judy went on to breed Brie to produce what she calls "The Brat Pack"...
Jessie's great-great grandkids...
"Ch. Duchess, Ch. Austin, and Ch. Memphis".
Jessie's daughter Mercy was again bred
to Ch. Marpointe's Manhattan to produce "Rose" -
Ch. Sunnygate The Victoria Rose

What a lovely legacy this one little sable dog has given, first with her daughter Mercy and from there branching out from Mercy's offspring. A legacy that has benefited not only me but three other sheltie breeders.

"Gone but never forgotten..."
