"Always remembered...and always loved."

Sky touched my heart as no other dog was able to do to the same degree. He caught my eye as a young puppy, but I couldn't keep him at the time so when a show home came along for him I placed him at a young age as a show prospect. However, this didn't work out for all parties involved and I got him back at 13 months of age, at which time I started training him to respond to me in the show ring. He was a great study and I think it was due to the fact that this dog absolutely "LOVED" me. His favorite thing while on a grooming table being groomed for a show was to lick my collarbone and neck. He couldn't get close enough. He had the most blue/blue eyes, I called them my siamese cat eyes and they were always full of devotion, never taking his eyes off me while on the table or in the ring.
I started showing Sky at Skaha in September of 1998 and he took the points all three days, then went on to finish the first day of Port Alberni in October, 1998. The following Spring he went to the States with a friend to see how he would do down there. Unfortunately, after the first couple of points, he ran out of coat and I ran out of funds, so back home he came. I never intended to campaign Sky as he was happier at home than out on the road, but the few times I did take him out he placed in the group and that was enough for me.
Then, unfortunately, we made the decision to place Sky once again as we was running out of room. Off he went to what we thought would be the perfect set up for him, but unfortunately that was not to be. He was again sold, and before we became aware of it he had been flown Stateside. After a year or so, we discovered that Sky was in a bad situation and very far away. It took my husband and I two seconds to make the decision to bring him back home. Happily, we were able to get the cooperation of all parties, and we were able to get him flown back to us. When he came out of the crate at the airport, his tail was wagging so hard, and his expression said, "What took you so long?" It almost broke our hearts, and at that point we made the decision that no matter what, Sky was not going to be leaving us again. And so it was, Sky became our "heart" dog and was my husband and my constant shadow while we were out doors doing yard work. Sky loved to camp with us when we took our travel trailer to dog shows and could be found curled up under our camp chairs, as close as he could get. I did breed Sky twice and got two lovely daughters, Ch. Marpointe Walks In Beauty. and Ch. Marpointe That's My Desire
I brought Sky out once more as a 9 year old Veteran at the SSCBC Specialty, where he got Best Veteran under respected Judge Guy Jeavons. It was a day to remember, as this old dog had not been shown in 6 years, and had gone through so much.
I know in my heart that Sky had a good life once we got him back, and his devotion and eagerness to please us was what endeared this little dog into our hearts. When his health started to fail, and we knew it was time, broke our hearts to make that decision.
We will really miss him.
