Mary Elliott passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully with family at her side on October 16, 2008. Please click on her biography to read more about her life and her family.
Mary
painted in watercolour and acrylic and occasionally ventured into
glass sculpture. Her paintings are usually florals or landscapes,
or abstractions of either theme. Influences in painting were Matisse
and David Milne.
Studies in Art History were a major interest
with courses ranging from Ancient Art History (Janson) to Contemporary
Art History (Arnason). Studies also include Canadian and Chinese
Art History, as well as a life-long independent study of the current
art world. Mary enjoyed music and studied piano and violin, and
recently had tried her hand at the cello and recorder. She also enjoyed
reading on a wide variety of subjects.
She worked out of her studio in Trail, British
Columbia, and showed her work extensively in the Kootenays. She
also had exhibitions in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Her work was selected for the Grand Forks Art Gallery and the British
Columbia Government collections. Prices for her work range from
$500 - $1500.
